Historia
Accountant and financial advisor Lacey Chamberlain doesn't consider herself a control freak. She's merely a planner-orderly, neat, and content in her tidy little life. When a marketing firm moves into the empty office next door, the loud-music-playing, stinky-food-ordering, kickball-in-the-hall staff make Lacey crazy. Marketing expert Alicia Wright is spontaneous, flies by the seat of her pants, and lives in the moment-all the things Lacey is not. She's also gorgeous, thoughtful, and seems determined to make Lacey like her. They say opposites attract, but for how long? And is that really a good idea?

Super slow and dull
Revisado: 06-06-23
What a bust! I've read other books by this author that I really liked but this one was so slow. The characters lacked depth and everything was overly explained and so focused on logical decisions that made the book boring. I kept hoping to would get better but it was a flop.

Historia
Sancia, Clef, and Berenice have gone up against long odds in the past. But the war they’re fighting now is one even they can’t win. This time, they’re not facing robber-baron elites or even an immortal hierophant, but an entity whose intelligence is spread over half the globe—one that uses the magic of scriving to control not just objects but human minds. To fight it, they’ve used scriving technology to transform themselves and their allies into an army—a society—unlike anything humanity has seen before.

In which Lesbians create a perfect new world order
Revisado: 07-06-22
This book 📕 did things to me I found myself ugly crying at 2am whilst listening to the final chapter. I had a feeling going into it would be rough but trusted the writer to stick his landing. It was darker than the previous entries in this series and it was broader when it comes to big world concepts. Not gonna lie, there were moments in which the magical system got so complicated it was hard to follow. The narrator Tara Sands did an excellent job acting this story with a nuanced and emotionally complex performance. I loved her voice inflection for Sancia, Berenice, and Clef.
The story follows what’s left of the foundryside limited crew from shorefall night. We get another time jump eight years into the future this is plot device that allows the author to grow the characters off page and introduce new concepts to the magic system. The characters have matured and we get a lot of Berenice doing the heavy lifting in terms of action sequences. So if you are a big Berenice fan she is to Locklands what Patroclus is to “the Song of Achilles.”
I loved Berenice as a character and was happy to see her take charge of the Foundryside crew. The book had me on edge from beginning to end. I felt exhausted for these characters. All you want is that happy ending and for everyone to be okay but that’s not what this book is. I think that is what makes it tough to read. There was something joyous in the heist driven found family elements in the first two books. This last book sucks a lot of hope off the page with just how desperate the characters are to survive.
This book had a lack of Sancia which is an odd thing to say given she is the protagonist of the first two books. In trying to convey a larger message on the affect of technology on civilizations we lost some of that shiny charm that made me fall in love with this series. Finally, it feels like the Sancia and Berenice love story needed more of a wrap up beyond a few meager sentences in the epilogue. It was a solid conclusion. However, I wished they could’ve at least had an on page kiss in that epilogue.

I need a Seven of Nine spin off TV series now!!!
Revisado: 02-25-22
Great. 10/10 audio experience. I’ve been a Seven of Nine fan since Voyager. Watched every episode and this audio extravaganza is exactly the kind of Star Trek adventure I need in my ears all day and night. I need this to be a serial Podcast or a New Spin off Series. Seven of Nine as a righteous Fenris Ranger with a funny motely crew of misfits and a burgeoning f/f love life is everything!!!

Great book but maybe get a narrator next time
Revisado: 12-02-21
Sometimes the author reads there own work and it is great but in this case it may have been better to get a narrator as the author reading made the narration very juvenile.

Wow! Amazing Book
Revisado: 06-25-21
Just finished Marathoning all of the Grishaverse and I’m over wrought by this tour de force of work. That ending has me sooooo excited for future works in this world. I can’t really say who’s my favorite character because they are all just so good and balanced over the expanse of several books. To think Leigh Bardugo started writing a duology about Nicolai as a soft fake out because the real story was about Zoya all along. I feel like the more I see snippets of Alina Starkof in later books the more I want Leigh Bardugo to give her an individualized POV in future works. I think these books really get better when she moved away from the first person narrative and I think Rule of Wolves is a solid 5 out 5 because she’s mastered the shifting POV’s along with balanced action and character development.

Children have always disappeared under the right conditions - slipping through the shadows under a bed or at the back of a wardrobe, tumbling down rabbit holes and into old wells, and emerging somewhere...else. But magical lands have little need for used-up miracle children. Nancy tumbled once, but now she's back. The things she's experienced...they change a person. The children under Miss West's care understand all too well. And each of them is seeking a way back to their own fantasy world.

monotone narration
Revisado: 02-02-21
The narration made me want to fall 💤 and due to this reason this book felt flat. I enjoyed the concept and checked to see if the 2nd book had the same narration which thankfully it does not.
Okay, after re-thinking it, reading this book was like drinking sleepy-time chamomile and trying not to sleep. It wasn’t just the narration the story was also a miserable slog. It felt like a bunch of concept on a page with a murder mystery plot thrown in as an after thought.
The main characters stops being the main character a third way through the book. It’s like the author got bored of her and started developing the character Jack. There’s a lot of telling instead of showing. We are told we should like Jack but the book fails to show us why. Yeah. Overall, this book was not for me.

Sancia Grado is a thief, and a damn good one. And her latest target, a heavily guarded warehouse on Tevanne’s docks, is nothing her unique abilities can’t handle. But unbeknownst to her, Sancia’s been sent to steal an artifact of unimaginable power, an object that could revolutionize the magical technology known as scriving. The Merchant Houses who control this magic - the art of using coded commands to imbue everyday objects with sentience - have already used it to transform Tevanne into a vast, remorseless capitalist machine.

Solid 10 audible experience
Revisado: 01-27-21
Just finished this book and thought the audible book reader/performer was a solid 10. Great book, fascinating world, and lots of character development that gets deep fast. I think I love every main and supporting character in this book. Exciting cliff hanger end, can’t wait to read the next entry in this series. Loved the Sancia & Baroniece burgeoning romance they are soooo cute. Giving me Korrasami feels. Gregor is a teddy bear, Otho is hilarious. This book was so much fun to read. A real pandemic escape. The only thing I’d suggest to potential readers is buying the hardcopy or kindle version to read along with the narration because sometimes when the author discusses the idea of bending realities it gets heady and hard to imagine. I think I’m going to buy a hardcover of foundryside down the line just so I can go back and take in the mechanics of the magic system at a slower pace. But overall, great book.
