Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Good, Solid Reacher!
Revisado: 09-29-24
Good narration if a little wooden. EXCELLENT story!! Reacher being Reacher, even within the Army framework.

Dense Book, well read
Revisado: 05-06-24
This is an excellent book, distilling down information from so many excellent self-help books!! I had to read and listen because the narrator does an outstanding job but the material was just too dense to follow by listening alone.

Love This Story, As An Adult
Revisado: 02-24-22
The narrator, Julia Whelan, reads this in a voice quite young. My first listenings were to a more mature and formal reader. I think something in-between might be best. As to the story, it is a long-time favorite, but I found it as a young adult. I've never understood how it can be classified in juvenile literature. It is a wonderful bit of history too!

Good, For What It Id
Revisado: 09-25-21
Long a fan of Dick Hill's solid, straightforward narration, I chose this book because of my mom's love for Lee Child's books. I found this one slower than other's but still compelling and entertaining - and it fills in more of Reacher's history.

Too Suspenseful? Is That A Thing
Revisado: 09-12-21
With incredibly tight writing, Cleeves makes it impossible to know who dunnit until the very last. Yet I found myself disappointed at having to leave such clearly written, fully realized characters. The narrator too did a stellar job, as I couldn't have told you that I wasn't reading this myself and hearing the words in my own head!

Unexpectedly LOVED This Reading Of A Soap-Opera
Revisado: 04-12-21
I like this Johanna Lindsey novel, for all of its soap-opera-esque twists and turns. I'm not a huge fan of Lindsey but I've enjoyed this plot, and the characters, as good entertainment. I was surprised to find it read by a man and delighted at the skill Page showed with the accents and voices! He made the book even more entertaining for me.

Favorite Funny Romance; Robotically Read
Revisado: 03-23-21
This story has always made me smile and laugh! It's often been a go-to re-read when my spirits need a lift. I'm OVERJOYED that Audible added this romance novel! I did find Heather Wilds' reading a little distracting. She used a definitive, chopped style - stating each sentence separately - creating a cadence that sometimes overwhelmed the prose. I find this book, at times, hilarious but I'm glad the narrator didn't play to get laughs. Still, I wish she might have massaged her tone a bit, and paused more in the story's breaks.

Historia
Emma can be enjoyed as a charming love story, a detective story, and a comic and lively picture of English life 200 years ago. Austen's beautiful, clever, wilful but fallible heroine Emma Woodhouse believes she knows best. Perfectly content with her life she sees no need for either love or marriage, yet nothing pleases her more than meddling in the romantic lives of others.

Not My Favorite Austen But VERY Well Read
Revisado: 03-13-21
I love Emma only for its length. It is a large dose of exquisite Austen, although fewer marvelous characters. It is a difficult read due to its length and many characters I find insipid. Yet, Jenny Agutter did an admirable job of it. She read at a comfortable pace and while not using accents (of people who live 100 miles apart at most) her inflections, attitudes and emphases differentiated the characters quite ably! I didn't care for her characterization of Mr Woodhouse (whom I sympathize,) but thought she completely nailed Mrs Elton (who rarely gets adequate treatment, in my opinion.) Thank you for this performance that I can rely on to brighten long drives and exhaustive chores!!

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Love The Story; Lukewarm On The Narration
Revisado: 02-26-21
I'm a fan of Jane Austen, and always enjoy re-hearing her stories so I was delighted to find this version 'Included' in my Audible membership. However, as much as I like Ms Pike as an actress, I found her reading less than ideal. She raced through many sections, making it difficult to enjoy Austen's saucy put-downs or brilliant observations. She also tried to vary the voices, but her skill wasn't up to the task - I'd have preferred more 'Lizzy said's and 'Jane said's. Still, this version is technically sound (besides the quick reading) with proper chapters and steady sound quality, so I will keep it and listen again!
