Great cast

The cast is great, but the story is just kind of funny. I think if you were listening to it episodically over time the effect would be different. if they made a sequel, or even a new story with the same core cast I would still listen to it.

Mostly Good

Most of the narrators are good, a couple great, a couple mediocre. Most of the stories are enjoyable, in spite of their macabre subject matter. Some are predictable.

I suggest you skip "Kittens"; it's by Dean Koontz, whose writing I usually like, but if you read this kind of material frequently, you know from the title what's coming, and it's not imagery you want in your brain.

Overall it's a varied, good collection worth reading.

Laugh out loud funny, suspenseful, well written story. Performed skillfully by one of my favorite narrators, Anna Fields. I wish the others of hers in the series were available.

Good Story and Narrator

I definitely want to continue with the next two books in the series. it's a great time travel story, and I liked the narrator's performance.

"True" stories

these aren't good fictional ghost stories. they are a rehash of urban legends, read robotically by the narrator. Don't waste your time.

I'm from southwest Louisiana, Cajun country. I expected questionable Cajun accents and was not disappointed. But really bad, to the point of distraction. What managed to read was slow and unremarkable. Give it a miss.

Grim noir

This was an interesting mix of magic and noir detective story. I would definitely read the other stories in the series.

Pleasant surprise

I was pleasantly surprised at the really good narration by the author. Usually that's a disaster, but not in this case.The story was quite entertaining, except for the very end. I think it's worth reading in spite of the last minute twists and turns that add nothing to the rest of the story. Several times he warns us to put down the book and listen no further; you might want to take him up on that.

Vegan cooking

Half the text of this book is detailed descriptions of preparing and dining on vegan meals. It adds nothing to the plot and actually becomes distracting.

For someone who is supposed to be smart, the main character sure is slow on the uptake.

The narrator is mediocre with a poor French accent, who mispronounces "n'est-ce pas" throughout. Mon Dieu!

I have no desire to continue with the main character on her journey. BUT, if there were a series starring the gargoyle, I might be interested, providing the French accent were better performed.
