Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Historia
Simon and Vicky couldn’t seem more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing’s for sure: absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky’s secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due.

Historia
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

"As I sleep, my mind will erase everything I did today. I will wake up tomorrow as I did this morning. Thinking I'm still a child. Thinking I have a whole lifetime of choice ahead of me...." Memories define us. So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep? Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love - all forgotten overnight. And the one person you trust may be telling you only half the story. Welcome to Christine's life.

Great narration!
Revisado: 10-18-23
I enjoyed this book as a break from more serious nonfiction that I’ve been listening to. Though the story does bring up some interesting thoughts about the meaning of memory within human life. I did not anticipate the end as some reviewers did. But I did feel that the story was longer than necessary with the main character going back and forth on what she thought her situation was. It made sense that she did that but the author could have been more succinct. Overall worth the listen.

Excellent Coverage of the History of our Language
Revisado: 02-21-23
I enjoyed listening to this lecture series. It was comprehensive from Old English through modern effects of electronic communication. Obviously it couldn’t cover every aspect in detail but it provides a great basis on which to understand the major changes in the language, the trends in study of English and issues arising from various points of view.

Historia
A biting satire about a young man's isolated upbringing and the race trial that sends him to the Supreme Court, Paul Beatty's The Sellout showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. It challenges the sacred tenets of the United States Constitution, urban life, the civil rights movement, the father-son relationship, and the holy grail of racial equality: the black Chinese restaurant.

Hilarious satire in black
Revisado: 06-27-17
Hilarious satire of black urban life. I'm sure there is some truth hidden amongst the curses and many uses if the n-word. Is Beatty the black John Irving? His characters are as eccentric. The reading was excellent as well.

Wonderful Story and Amazing Narration
Revisado: 03-13-14
Would you listen to The Name of the Wind again? Why?
I really enjoyed this story. It's another excellent fantasy in the tradition of Tolkien and George R. R. Martin, full of magic and wonder with memories of Dicken's coming of age stories. The narration by Nick Podehl is truely amazing. His character voices are varied and distinct, creating reality through voice and words.
What did you like best about this story?
The depth and breadth of the story.
What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I enjoyed Podehl's narration, especially in some of the more colorful characters. Truely a joy to hear.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Does it count that I couldn't stop listening to sleep?

Beautifully written and narrated! Amazing story.
Revisado: 02-06-14
What did you love best about Cutting for Stone?
This story tracks the life of each person in the complex family group, twisting in and out of the history of Ethiopia and of medicine in the mid 20th century. The characters are full of pathos, love, fear and need. The story has the feel of John Irving in ironic twists of fate and individual choice which affect each character in the family.
What about Sunil Malhotra’s performance did you like?
Malhotra did an excellent job of differentiating each character's voice. It was easy to imagine each character as he read.

Historia
This is the first volume of distinguished historian Dumas Malone's Pulitzer Prize-winning six-volume work on the life and times of Thomas Jefferson. Based on a myriad of sources, it covers Jefferson's ancestry, youth, education, and legal career; his marriage and the building of Monticello; the drafting of the Declaration of Independence and the Notes on Virginia; his rich, fruitful legislative career; his highly controversial governorship; and his early services to the development of the West.

Rich and deep, but biased
Revisado: 10-27-10
This series on Jefferson is very detailed and rich in information. It covers absolutely everything about Jefferson's life. Overall it is an enjoyable but long listen. But, the author does spend a signficant amount of time showing Jefferson in a good light. Much of this effort seems extraneous. I would definitely take the author's opinion with a grain of salt. If you want to hear about all aspects of Jefferson's long service to our country, this is a good book.
