Historia
In 1961, at the height of the Cold War, the United States severed diplomatic relations with Cuba, where a momentous revolution had taken power three years earlier. For more than half a century, the stand-off continued—through the tenure of ten American presidents and the fifty-year rule of Fidel Castro. His death in 2016, and the retirement of his brother and successor Raúl Castro in 2021, have spurred questions about the country’s future. Spanning more than five centuries, Cuba provides us with a front-row seat as we witness the evolution of the modern nation.

Historia
Detective Jake Daggers likes his murder investigations the way he likes his women - straightforward, easy, and with a killer body. So when his older-than-dust partner throws his back out on a goblin raid, his captain assigns him a new running mate - a sexy young half-elf by the name of Shay Steele. It seems like a match made in Daggers' imagination, but Steele's no pushover. She's a powerful forensic psychic, and she's got sass oozing out of her boots. In a debut case teeming with fire mages, foundries, and a dead guy who's crispier than bacon, it's pretty clear Daggers isn't the only one getting a heaping helping of RED HOT STEELE.

Good but not awesome
Revisado: 02-23-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The protagonist is difficult to like, often juvenile and borderline offensive. The attempt was made for a witty character but it was not entirely successful.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Pleasant if unsurprising.
What about Alex P. Berg’s performance did you like?
Each character had a distinct voice that was very well defined. This was my favorite part of the audiobook.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Not in theaters but I would rent the movie to watch after work.

Geoffrey Chaucer is one of our grandest and most enduring poets; an architect of our vocabulary and our literary style. By examining the English writer's texts, from his short love lyrics to the copious profusion of character and incident that is The Canterbury Tales, these 12 lectures will prepare you for the challenges of Chaucer's oeuvre, and will provide an understanding of what makes him the true "father" of English poetry.

"Chaucer is the name, writing is the game"
Revisado: 02-27-16
Loved this overview of Chaucer and his works! Thorough but still lively, the Canterbury Tales are reviewed for content as well as effect. Less known works are also covered with explanations and mentions of how they were received through the years.

Historia
Know thy enemy. That's what the wisdom of history teaches us. And Adolf Hitler was surely the greatest enemy ever faced by modern civilization. Over half a century later, the horror, fascination, and questions still linger: How could a man like Hitler and a movement like Nazism come to power in 20th-century Germany – an industrially developed country with a highly educated population? How were the Nazis able to establish the foundations of a totalitarian regime in such a short time and hurl all of Europe – and the world – into a devastating war that would consume so many millions of lives? Professor Childers has designed this gripping 12-lecture course to shed light on these and other questions that have plagued generations.
