Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

Historia
Jo Jones has always had a little trouble fitting in. As a neurodivergent, hyperlexic book editor and divorced New Yorker transplanted into the English countryside, Jo doesn’t know what stands out more: her Americanisms or her autism. After losing her job, her mother, and her marriage all in one year, she couldn’t be happier to take possession of a possibly haunted (and clearly unwanted) family estate in North Yorkshire. But when the body of the moody town groundskeeper turns up on her rug with three bullets in his back, Jo finds herself in potential danger—and she’s also a potential suspect.

How terrible the narrator was!
Revisado: 04-26-24
The Narrator of this story was so annoying and distracting. If I were the author of a book being read to others on audible I would be sure to vet the narrator beforehand especially if I were not a Brit writing a story about so many areas that I did not know about!
The narrator seems to have watched too many episodes of Vera and Shetland, and been unable to decipher the difference. Some sentences made a frantic trip around the British Isles, and were still unable to settle on the correct accent for the character. It was truly agonizing to listen to.
Now to the story… It wasn’t a bad story just a bit draggy in places. I really think that the author should stick with nonfiction.

Historia
Pity poor Captain Alan Lewrie, Royal Navy! He's been wind-muzzled for weeks in Portsmouth, snugly tucked into a warm shore bed with lovely, and loving, Lydia Stangbourne, a Viscount's daughter, and beginning to enjoy indulging his idle streak, when Admiralty tears Lewrie away and order him to the Bahamas, into the teeth of ferocious winter storms. It's enough to make a rakehell such as he weep and kick furniture!

A jolly good read!
Revisado: 05-11-23
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a great mix of cultures. I almost wish I had not know who the author was before I read it. Only because it made me guess at parallels. It had lots of things I loved in it. First red headed people. (I’m the mother of two redheads) second Scotsmen in kilts. Third history just love it! Liked all the kind people in this story too.

Historia
For the reasonable price of $1, Natalie Malone just bought herself an abandoned villa on the Amalfi Coast. With a detailed spreadsheet and an ancient key, she's arrived in Italy ready to renovate—and with only six months to do it. Which seemed reasonable until architect Pietro Indelicato began critically watching her every move. From the sweeping ocean views to the scent of the lemon trees, there's nothing Pietro loves more than his hometown. And after seeing too many botched jobs and garish design choices, he's done watching from the sidelines.

The narrator was so inept I had to stop at chapter two. You do not break sentences up like this! I feel sorry for the author as the story may well be ok however I’ll never know.

What was refreshing about these books!
Revisado: 09-08-22
What was refreshing about these books was there was no swearing or sexual content! Unlike movies, books don’t have ratings so I often send back books I don’t want to listen to.
I think it would be relatively safe for family listening.
If I do have one criticism it would be that too many people “SNORTED” too many times.

Historia
Tired of the pace and noise of life near London and longing for a better place to raise their young children, Mary J. MacLeod and her husband, George, encountered their dream while vacationing on a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. Enthralled by its windswept beauty, they soon were the proud and startled owners of a near-derelict croft house - a farmer’s stone cottage - on “a small acre” of land. Mary assumed duties as the island’s district nurse.

I just can’t take anymore!!!!!!!!!
Revisado: 09-01-21
My lovely husband downloaded this book for me as he thought it was right up my alley…………..I was so disturbed by the terrible English over done accent and the truly appalling butchering of the Scottish accent not to mention the Celtic phrases hacked to pieces!!!! I was so distracted that instead of being entertained I was being tortured.
How could audible and the author have allowed this to be published? I don’t read lots of reviews but did read a couple before I began this book however I thought people were exaggerating. They were not. I implore you to remove this book before others waste valuable time on it. Please have it read by an English person who can do a plausible Scottish accent.

Really captivating couldn’t put it down. The characters were very well developed. The villain well concealed until later in the story but even when you thought you’d cracked the case you still kept reading to see how it could be proved.
