Historia
Kuni Garu, now known as Emperor Ragin, runs the archipelago kingdom of Dara but struggles to maintain progress while serving the demands of the people and his vision. Then an unexpected invading force from the Lyucu Empire in the far distant west comes to the shores of Dara - and chaos results. But Emperor Kuni cannot go and lead his kingdom against the threat himself with his recently healed empire fraying at the seams, so he sends the only people he trusts to be Dara's savvy and cunning hopes against the invincible invaders: his children.

Beautiful and thrilling
Revisado: 07-26-24
The story picks up from the Grace of Kings and takes an unexpected turn. The women in the story come into focus. Love of duty, teachers, children, and honor are major themes. Gripping and heartbreaking.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Incredible stories

These stories seem so familiar and also so strange. The voice is lovely. A bit scary for little kids.

Memorable characters and jokes
Revisado: 01-01-24
Listened with my 11, 7, and 4 yos. All enjoyed it. We loved the different voices, the funny moments, the kids joining together to fight for their rights. The idea of living in a treehouse every Wednesday is so cool. Thanks for the how-to instructions.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Historia
In this emotionally powerful and intellectually provocative blend of memoir, cultural criticism, and theory, scholar and essayist Samira Mehta reflects on many facets of being multiracial. Born to a white American and a South Asian immigrant, Mehta grew up feeling more comfortable with her mother’s family than with her father’s—they never carried on conversations in languages that she couldn’t understand or blamed her for finding the food was too spicy.

Revisado: 03-26-22
Warm and funny and smart book. Great narration. But the chapters don’t follow from the book which is annoying.
