Historia
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

A well-researched book presented in a great way!
Revisado: 09-29-17
Amazing, like a fictional spy novel, but it's real-life. A very well-researched book that brings the story to life, including the main characters on both sides of the law.

Historia
Ordinary Men is the true story of Reserve Police Batallion 101 of the German Order Police, which was responsible for mass shootings as well as roundups of Jewish people for deportation to Nazi death camps in Poland in 1942. Browning argues that most of the men of RPB 101 were not fanatical Nazis but, rather, ordinary middle-aged working-class men who committed these atrocities out of a mixture of motives, including the group dynamics of conformity, deference to authority, role adaptation, and the altering of moral norms to justify their actions.

Bogged down in details.

Get out your pencil and take notes. This book is full of details, obscure Polish town names, people's names that are not even their real names.
Basically a recap of court testimony. Yawn....

New York Times best-selling author Jay Winik brings to life in gripping detail the year 1944, which determined the outcome of World War II and put more pressure than any other on an ailing yet determined President Roosevelt.

All about FDR, soft on the Jewish question of 44
Revisado: 03-26-17
This was not what I expected. I was told it was about the coverups of 1944, but it was actually just about FDR. If you like reading about FDR it's a great book, if you wanted to learn the truth about the coverups of 1944 and the final solution, this isn't for you

Historia
In September 1776, the vulnerable Continental army under an unsure George Washington evacuated New York after a devastating defeat by the British army. Three weeks later, near the Canadian border, one of his favorite generals, Benedict Arnold, miraculously succeeded in postponing the British naval advance down Lake Champlain that might have lost the war. As this book ends, four years later, Washington has vanquished his demons, and Arnold has fled to the enemy. America was forced at last to realize that the real threat to its liberties might not come from without but from within.

A Great Book That Lacks a Conclusion.
Revisado: 05-17-16
I loved hearing the other details of Benedict Arnold's rise and fall and an insider's view on the Rev. War. But, the author should have gone into more detail of what happened after the treason was discovered. What happened to Arnold in the British Army, and the massacre that he unleashed on the Continentals. What about after the war? It just ends without even talking about the end of the war, what happened to Arnold and his wife, kids. It's like the author got tired of writing, then just quit.

Historia
On May 1, 1915, with WWI entering its tenth month, a luxury ocean liner as richly appointed as an English country house sailed out of New York, bound for Liverpool, carrying a record number of children and infants. The passengers were surprisingly at ease, even though Germany had declared the seas around Britain to be a war zone. For months, German U-boats had brought terror to the North Atlantic.

Spectacular look 1915 people and politics
Revisado: 09-16-15
What did you love best about Dead Wake?
You know the ending of the story, but the not the people involved. The author did a great job of introducing the characters surviving the disaster and the politics of the era. You'll be angry at the British Admiralty and the German Navy alike. Well written, well narrated and a great story that everyone should hear.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Capt. Turner
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Just before the torpedo.

Historia
Tracing the historic arc of Abraham Lincoln's life from his picaresque days as a gangly young man in Sangamon County, Illinois, through his improbable marriage to Kentucky belle Mary Todd, to his 1865 visit to war-shattered Richmond only days before his assassination, I Am Abraham hews to the familiar Lincoln saga, seamlessly braiding Lincoln family members and military figures with a parade of fictional extras - wise-cracking knaves, conniving hangers-on, patriotic whores, and dying soldiers.

Interesting perspective.
Revisado: 02-25-15
The narrator was a bit dry at first, but I got used to him and his characterizations. Hard to follow the early years of the story, but if got more interesting as the story developed into more mainstream historical knowledge.
