Historia
To everyone else, John F. Kennedy Jr. may have been American royalty, but to RoseMarie Terenzio, he was an entitled nuisance—and she wasn’t afraid to let him know it. RoseMarie was his personal assistant, his publicist, and one of his closest confidantes during the last five years of his life. In this, her first memoir, she bravely recounts her own fairy tale interrupted, describing the unlikely friendship between a blue-collar girl from the Bronx and John F. Kennedy Jr.

Proximity to fame
Revisado: 08-28-24
Audio frequently sounded hollow or had a slight echo. This is definitely a memoir of the author’s life with a concentration on the last years of John Kennedy and Carolyn Bessette. You will get great attention to her life which includes her dating/sex life (with wardrobe), and her best friend Frank. The cover photo implied a certain focus which wasn’t there as much as expected. It is the author’s life and is a story about how the closeness to money, social standing and fame helped validate her life. In many respects once that link to John, Carolyn and her best friend were gone her life became more interesting because she was doing it on her own without the high profile assistance and support. What bothered me about the audiobook was the me me me tone/inflection. I had seen the book and didn’t buy it for that reason, but had thought hearing her read it would make me think differently. It didn’t change my quick assessment of the hard copy. I understand needing validation and the reasons we need it as well as the self righteous ways most of us tell ourselves we don’t need it, but the selling point for the book was obviously the John and Carolyn angle.

Historia
The straight-talking, best-selling author and Pitbull of Personal Development is back with a pithy and prescriptive guide to success. A five-time best-selling author and one of the country's leading business speakers, Larry has made a reputation for being the first to challenge the positive-attraction gurus and the law-of-attraction bozos with his commonsense approach to success. Larry doesn't sugar-coat, and he isn't afraid to make people uncomfortable, because he wants us to stop making excuses, and start getting results.

Nice wrap up to trilogy
Revisado: 11-14-23
This trilogy is one of the best ones I have read in a long time. Characters were well written and consistent while the primary story was plausible.

Historia
Most of us still live by the motto, “No pain, no gain.” But this approach to life is actually a prescription for fear, frustration, and self-doubt. Much of what we learn about success is based on the pain/gain idea: in essence, work harder, be more persistent, and develop greater willpower. The New Psycho-Cybernetics formula is anything but painful. It will allow you to achieve all your goals, faster, easier, and with less strain than you ever thought possible.

Not quite what I expected
Revisado: 05-01-23
I read the original book in the 80’s and had several cassettes of Maltz himself talking about Psycho-Cybernetics that came out around that time. Got this title after re-reading the book and was not impressed with the bragging. Did not finish it. Concepts are sound but the manner of discussion did not make me want to keep listening.

Historia
Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Best Coben book I have read
Revisado: 01-11-23
Most of the Coben books I have read have been great - until the last few chapters which always feel like a forced, quick resolution to finish the book. This one was slower in many ways, but more even throughout the overall story. Steven Weber did a great job.

Historia
The stockings are hanging ready, the sherry and pies are waiting by the fireplace - but where is the jolly fat man with his sack? It's not right to find Death creeping down chimneys and trying to say 'Ho ho ho'—but someone's got to bring the little kiddies their presents. Or else they might stop believing. Belief is important in Discworld, particularly on the last night of the year when the time is turning. If the real man in the red suit isn't found by morning, there won't be a morning. Ever again....

Historia
The massacre at Mountain Meadows on September 11, 1857, was the single most violent attack on a wagon train in the 30-year history of the Oregon and California trails. Yet it has been all but forgotten. Will Bagley's Blood of the Prophets is an award-winning, riveting account of the attack on the Baker-Fancher wagon train by Mormons in the local militia and a few Paiute Indians.

Sad part of US History
Revisado: 10-10-22
Audible sales sometimes help me pick up titles I may not normally look to add since I already own the book. This narrator proved oddly effective, given the subject matter as he reads it, is how I would envision the attitudes of the perpetrators - very blunt and matter of fact in their thinking. I grew up in NW AR and have known descendants of the massacre all my life. The Mountain Meadows memorial is one I have seen and known about all my life. It is now over 150 years after the fact and I am still being told the murders were justified by people who have heard the history only from the church side. It happened at at odd time in LDS church and US history and makes for an interesting story of power in the early days of Utah. The extent the church leaders went to to assert and extend their rights as God’s chosen people sound oddly like current political rhetoric. Meanwhile, The victims are still a minor footnote in history that most people have never heard of the event.

Historia
Ty Cobb is baseball royalty, maybe even the greatest player who ever lived. His lifetime batting average is still the highest of all time, and when he retired in 1928, after twenty-one years with the Detroit Tigers and two with the Philadelphia Athletics, he held more than ninety records. But the numbers don't tell half of Cobb's tale. The Georgia Peach was by far the most thrilling player of the era: "Ty Cobb could cause more excitement with a base on balls than Babe Ruth could with a grand slam," one columnist wrote.

Best Cobb Biography
Revisado: 05-25-22
Loved the narrator. It got into what seemed like the minutia of Cobb’s baseball career while telling his story and how it related to the myths surrounding his playing days. It did discuss his personal life, but that was not the focus and how it was integrated in brought a nice flow to the story.

Historia
Entertaining and different, this is an enjoyable study of a flawed yet characterful Prince of Wales seen through the eyes of the women in his life. Edward Vll, who gave his name to the Edwardian Age and died in 1911, was King of England for the final 10 years of his life. He was 59 when at last he came to the throne. Known as Bertie, the eldest son of Victoria and Albert, he was bullied by both his parents.

Loved It
Revisado: 05-01-22
It took a chapter or so to get involved in the era if you will, but overall it was I loved it. The family dynamics as presented was very plausible. You got a sense of why he became the king he did without going in the extreme in any direction. The author’s summary was very succinct and matched my thoughts while listening which makes it all the more worth a second listen. One of the best biographies I have heard in quite a while. Have never listened to this narrator before - she was really good.

Good Dual Bio
Revisado: 07-04-21
The book itself was good. I have read a lot about Plath and a few books on Sexton, but as a dual biography, certain aspects of the shared, but different histories of both women were highlighted for me.
I was excited to start listening but the narration was consistently misguided. First off, it felt like every sentence was a performance, which did not fit the content. The good part of that was it was not monotone, so I continued listening. Mispronounced words and names were not frequent but the same ones were off each time. The most obvious was three pronunciation variations of Adrienne Rich’s first name.
