Even better than her first novel
Revisado: 10-22-23
I thought the author's first novel was great. This one is even better. The flawed protagonist, the well hidden villain, and the complex plot all combine for a thrilling listen. The narrators also do a great job.

Massacres Hungarian.
Revisado: 05-08-22
I found the story very compelling. My husband comes from Hungary and his family belonged to the old upper middle class that Marton describes so well in this memoir. However, the narrator manages to mispronounce every Hungarian word and name in the text, and there are a lot of them. I realize that Hungarian is not an easy language to pronounce, but I wish the narrator had take the trouble to learn how to pronounce some of the words correctly. Not exactly a great listen.

Too much coincidence to be real (spoiler alert)
Revisado: 05-05-22
I was following this story with bated breath until I learned that the hit and run victim was Ian's son and that Ian had killed him intentionally. That's just too much coincidence. It's also unnecessary. Ian is bad enough witout being made into a fratricidal killer.
