A Different Twist on A Collapse.
Revisado: 02-22-18
What did you like best about Apocalypse Coming? What did you like least?
Interesting because I found the few biblical references interesting as they are laid out in the story. Didn't like the sad relationship of the trio.
What could William Dunaway and Cindy Dunaway have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Maybe not spend so much time trying to convince the audience the trio in the odd relationship feel it is ok and valid.
Which scene was your favorite?
The prison scene. Putting aside so much death - a clearly repentant man survives. It added a since of Hope to the story.
Was Apocalypse Coming worth the listening time?
It is a good story but not sure it makes a 1st book.

Historia
For a brief period after the world changed forever, the self-reliant community of Trout Run Valley managed to avoid conflict. They practiced subsistence, and found safety and security within their numbers. As the post-apocalyptic timeline moved forward, it began to spiral downward. Takers had made their presence known, and their malevolent intentions clear, transforming the once benign community into a violent battleground.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this book. It is a great follow up to book one. The main character is having a hard time with the changing times. She is helped by the memories of times spent with her missing father.

Historia
Lauren Russell, her family, and the community of Trout Run Valley had been blessed with a workable blueprint for overcoming nearly insurmountable odds - odds that had been surmounted against them, and others like them, since the blackout, subsequent decline of society, and the world's devolution. The aftermath of the most recent onslaught, a ruthless attack by a menacing enemy, had left them reeling in its wake, leaving a once-sustainable food supply damaged beyond repair and two of their own senselessly murdered.

Forced into exile while his friends strive to clear his name, Bishop and his family encounter the best and worst mankind has to offer while they travel the badlands. The human animal is trying to regroup, striving to fill the vacuum in leadership left after the collapse and form productive societies. But it's not easy. The lack of basic necessities has weakened the resolve of many, allowing age-old tendencies to cloud the minds of men. Those that do step up and take the helm of governance may have alternative motives and hidden agendas.

Historia
After the worst pandemic in mankind's history, anarchy threatens to break apart the United States. The government is years away from providing even the most basic necessities. Militias, gangs of convicts, and rogue soldiers face off in a violent free-for-all as they vie for power. Few safe havens remain. Big cities have been overrun with deformed survivors of the Superpox-99 pandemic. Smaller towns are being overtaken by authoritarians and lawless thugs. And congested interstates have become thoroughfares for desperate travelers and bandits seeking to capture women and supplies.

For the most part - Loved it!
Revisado: 02-15-15
Where does Anarchy Rising rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The 3 main characters are great. President Glass however is a disappointment and for the most part unbelievable. She lacks the intelligence you would expect from a president of the United States. That aside I will continue to look forward to seeing what happens to Tanner, Samantha and Mason.

Historia
The Superpox-99 virus has wiped out nearly the entire human race. Governments have collapsed. Cities have become graveyards filled with unspeakable horror. People have resorted to scavenging from the dead, or taking from the living. The entire industrialized world has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, decaying bodies, and feral animals. To stay alive, U.S. Deputy Marshal Mason Raines must forage for food, water, and gasoline while outgunning those who seek to take advantage of the apocalyptic anarchy. Together with his giant Irish wolfhound, Bowie, he aligns with survivors of the town of Boone in a life and death struggle against a gang of violent criminals. With each deadly encounter, Mason is force to accept his place as one of the nation's few remaining lawmen. In a world now populated by escaped convicts, paranoid mutants, and government hit squads, his only hope to save the townspeople is to enforce his own brand of frontier justice.

Narration Needs Work
Revisado: 05-28-14
What disappointed you about Holding Their Own: A Story of Survival?
The story writing seems to be ok. I couldn't get past the narrator. I listened to the story for about 10 minutes and then couldn't take it anymore. Turned it off.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The story lines seemed to be ok. I may read the book.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of D. Allen?
I have listened to many narrators but none like D. Allen. Any other narrator would have been better.
