it was kinda cool to think, where I would be if something like this actually happened.
Revisado: 01-25-24
the main character is all over the place... She's an enigma. She's at times super tough, clever, intelligent, resilient, self reliant (wants to be at least), hard working, mama bear badass. Then.. she's annoying, thoughtless, entitled, egotistical, narcissistic, not very bright (at times downright clueless) cmplete bitch of woman.
After writing all that.. I'm thinking that she's very well written, and a pretty good likeness, or version of most anybody in reality. I think that the reason I disliked her so much was that I saw similarities between her and I. Not a carbon copy, just similar. The way we all put on a facade for others. Kind of a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of thing.
So I guess it's a well written novel, and she's a rather decent character. Especially because I disliked her so much. On a personal level.
Totally worth listening to.

Historia
The year is 2011, and what starts as a pervasive and inexplicable illness ends up as a zombie infestation that devastates the world's population. Taking the form of a biologist's journal found in the aftermath of the attack, this pulse-pounding, suspenseful tale of zombie apocalypse follows the narrator as he flees from city to countryside and heads north to Canada, where he hopes the undead will be slowed by the colder climate.

This was a fun little listen, story was interesting and newish way of telling it. Ending was clever, mostly. Mixed feelings though. I kinda want to see if the author has done more

not a bad listen, but the end of book 4...
Revisado: 03-09-22
The final sentence is all I'm referring to. This isn't a spoiler or anything. Just two words... Damn cheesy!
The thing that jumps to mind, because of the similarity of the two, is the movie "The Three Amigos." I am not knocking on the movie at all mind you just the cheese factor. I mean their whole mantra of, how they're going to save everybody, thwart evil, and blah, blah, blah... Evil will not triumph, wherever goodness is needed..we'll be there! It just was way too cheesy of an ending for this book. I thought however that it totally worked for the Three Amigos because it was supposed to be a goofy, a joke, a farce, what have you. A "haha"type of movie.
Still gonna get the other books though!

Historia
The tide is turning against the colonists in the Revolutionary War, and 18-year-old Elizabeth Morris cannot sit by idly. Quietly disdainful of her Tory parents, who drag her along to society events and welcome a British soldier into their home during their occupation of New York City, Elizabeth decides to take matters into her own hands. She realizes that, as a young woman, no one around her believes that she can comprehend the profound implications of being a nation at war - she is, effectively, invisible. And she can use this invisibility to her advantage.

Historia
The first invasion of Earth was beaten back by a coalition of corporate and international military forces and the Chinese army. China has been devastated by the Formic's initial efforts to eradicate Earth life forms and prepare the ground for their own settlement. The Scouring of China struck fear into the other nations of the planet; that fear blossomed into drastic action when scientists determined that the single ship that wreaked such damage was merely a scout ship. There is a mothership out beyond the solar system's Kuiper Belt, and it's heading into the system.

I don't like the multiple readers. other than that it's fun to listen to, and story is pretty good... just a little transparent as far as out goes. I really hope that military leaders aren't really this dense and oblivious. Still, enjoyable.

Historia
Nearly 100 years before the events of Orson Scott Card's bestselling novel Ender's Game, humans were just beginning to step off Earth and out into the Solar System. A thin web of ships in both asteroid belts; a few stations; a corporate settlement on Luna. No one had seen any sign of other space-faring races; everyone expected that First Contact, if it came, would happen in the future, in the empty reaches between the stars. Then a young navigator on a distant mining ship saw something moving too fast, heading directly for our sun.

a bit cheesy at times and just kinda meh...
Revisado: 09-23-20
I know that this is fantasy and all that stuff, but it (the story, characters thoughts and actions) at times strains belief. It casts doubt at to the possibility of even being plausible, even a little. I'll have to look, perhaps this book was written a while ago and at the time they simply didn't have some of the tech that we do now. So the author was making some of the stuff up. Stuff that we find mundane and simple, items we have and abilities we simply take for granted. It was simply a little difficult at times to follow what was going on, and that made some of the characters seem a bit dim.
I still enjoyed the books overall, just a little odd.

Pretty decent ending to the series.... or not.
Revisado: 09-03-20
It's a possibility there could be another book but.... good ending where it did. As a whole the series was better than good but don't know by how far. I think it was a solid end far better than the second book (weakest of the three, I almost stopped to return it. But, I'm glad I didn't, all in all: B+.
I found the series (this is likely, at least is partly due to the fact that I was listening, rather than reading) to be unnecessarily confusing at times due to the jumping between mini plots etc. throughout the books.
