Historia
South Pole Santa is a story listeners of any age can enjoy, and one parents will love listening to with their children and grandchildren. Join 12-year-old Amanda Krumwerth and her family, who spend more time with their electronics and social media than they do with each other, and Marmel, Santa's head labeling elf, who wants to make sure the Krumwerths never get off the naughty list, to see if they can all find their way back to Christmas, with the help of flying penguins, Santa's younger brother, and an aging heavy metal rock star.

Revisado: 12-10-21
The mixing of the Santa myth (who is portrayed as real) and religion near the ending really threw me and ended the book on a sour note. I also didn't really feel like true change happened, just what could be done so they weren't on the naughty list.

some of the voices bugged me
Revisado: 04-01-21
I didn't care for greydon's voice. He sounded like a 70 year old smoker instead of the love interest for the main character. I got use to it but it took most of the book.

The Call of Cthulhu", written in 1926, is probably Lovecraft's best-known work. Discovering notes left by a deceased relative, the narrator pieces together the whole truth and disturbing significance of the Cthulhu cult. This release also contains the shorter tales "The Festival" and "The Hound", in which gravediggers bring home more than they bargained for!

Narration is horrible!
Revisado: 11-06-10
I've tried twice listening to this but the reader is horrible! The reader has a thick lisp causing the words to not enunciated clearly. It made it very hard to understand what was going on.

Worthwhile but had it figured out early
Revisado: 07-07-09
This was a good, but I had the killer figured out really early into the book. I don't think that took to much away from the book but it made some parts a little frustrating. It was still worthwhile and I will probably pick up another Wilhelm book, but it wasn't an amazing mystery.

Good first book.
Revisado: 07-07-09
This was a good first book in a new (to me) paranormal series. I don't think the writing was amazing and it took me a minute to figure out what was going on sometimes. The concept was slightly refreshing. I still feel it was solid enough that I will probably pick up the next one to try.

Historia
An extraordinary debut novel of love that survives the fires of hell and transcends the boundaries of time. The narrator of The Gargoyle is a very contemporary cynic, physically beautiful and sexually adept, who dwells in the moral vacuum that is modern life. As the book opens, he is driving along a dark road when he is distracted by what seems to be a flight of arrows.

Conflicting
Revisado: 07-07-09
I loved this story and I disliked it (hate would be a little strong here). I had a really hard time with the very graphic description and detachment of the narrator and loved Marianne's stories. I loved the evolution of the main character but disliked his self-centeredness. I really enjoyed Marianne and her stories but didn't understand her manicness. Clearly, I'm conflicted on this book. Would I recommend someone else read/listen it? Definitely. Will I read/listen it again? Probably, just to better understand it. This book is not for the light of heart of the easily grossed out. It is an enduring love story and a unique historical fiction novel. It was good, but I'm not yet sure if it was amazing as all the hype seems to think it is.

Fun Paranormal!
Revisado: 07-07-09
This was a quick and fun paranormal fiction piece. When a new psychic act comes to town, ex-actress Kildy decides that her boss needs to see the show. Rob, a journalist and professional skeptic doesn't do channelers with Kildy's nudging it goes to a performance. In the end, he gets more then he bargained for and maybe the story to end all stories.
The dialog between Kildy and Rob make this novella. It was a fun and witty listen that has convinced me to pick up more by Connie Willis.

Quick and fun listen!
Revisado: 07-07-09
This was a wonderful novella. It was quick, interesting and heartbreaking in a way. A world without dogs – which I can't image as a person who loves dogs. For a quick read that keeps you thinking, this was great.

Gah! Will it never stop?
Revisado: 05-21-09
I thought the story for this sounded really interesting and could be a fun romance. Instead of being fun, I found the dialog between Maddox and Ashlyn to be forced. The majority of their conversations seemed to be single words. All the men in this novel are to be "big, strong warriors" but instead of having an attractive appeal, it was a complete turn off because they became more like brutes. Every time one of the men spoke (for the most part) all I could think was caveman and "me man, you my women." The attempts to make Maddox seem more emotional just left me thinking "gah!" and seemed unbelievable to me. This book also struck me as being very formulaic. Beautiful virgin finds handsome warrior who reveals a tender side which no one ever knew he had and they have steamy sex, then something happened and must be saved by the handsome warrior. Also, the language and wording used during the multiple sex scenes were turn offs for me and no at all romantic and were repetitive. At one point I just wanted the plot to get moving and skipped ahead during a sex scene by 15 minutes and it was still going. The male reader I also found did not appeal to me. I think he only increased how weird the sex scenes were because he voice didn't change much, it felt very monotone. In the end, I was very happy for this book to be over and don't think I will trying any more by this author.

Historia
Mathilda Gillespie's body was found nearly two days after she had taken an overdose and slashed her wrists with a utility knife. But what shocked Dr. Sarah Blakeney the most was the rusted metal cage obscuring the dead woman's face - a medieval instrument of torture called a scold's bridle grotesquely adorned with a garland of nettles and Michaelmas daises. What happened at Cedar House in the tortured hours before Mathilda's death?

Enjoyable!
Revisado: 05-21-09
When sharp-tongued, Mathilda dies in her home with a scold's bridle over her head, it looks like an apparent suicide, but the detective assigned to the case doesn't think it really is a suicide. Mathilda's GP, Dr. Sarah Blakeney is another that doesn't believe Mathilda would kill herself. After meeting Mathilda's daughter and granddaughter, both the detective and Sarah are even less inclined to believe the old women would kill herself. After the will is read, everything people thought they knew about Mathilda, change.
This was a well paced thriller that goes from the beauty of a doctors care to the cruelty within in a single family with too many secrets. Well written and read, this was an enjoyable mystery that will keep you guessing with all the twists.
