Enjoyable book on writing including many fun anecdotes tips and a few exercises. I did not know what to expect but found I could not wait to get back to listening. Anne Lamott delivers her advice with wit and humour leaving me wanting more. I will probably re-listen many times.

David Sedaris's beloved holiday collection is new again with six more pieces, including a never before published story. Along with such favorites as the diaries of a Macy's elf and the annals of two very competitive families, are Sedaris's tales of tardy trick-or-treaters ("Us and Them"); the difficulties of explaining the Easter Bunny to the French ("Jesus Shaves"); and what to do when you've been locked out in a snowstorm ("Let It Snow").

I love this bag of mixed nutty Christmas stories. Deliciously ridiculous to downright sarcastic, Sedaris always puts a funny twist on any subject. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Historia
Dellarobia Turnbow is a restless farm wife who gave up her own plans when she accidentally became pregnant at 17. Now, after a decade of domestic disharmony on a failing farm, she encounters a shocking sight: a silent, forested valley filled with what looks like a lake of fire. She can only understand it as a cautionary miracle, but it sparks a raft of other explanations from scientists, religious leaders, and the media.

Like listening to a sales pitch.
Revisado: 08-20-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If it was written by a more personable or knowledgable author.
What could Kevin Leman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Offer more insight and information and take out all his personal back-patting. Don't try to sell himself and everything he says. If you have good material it will sell itself.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not really. I shut it off after the author lists Bill O'Rielly, Rush Limbaugh (and Bill Cosby) as paragons of their birth orders. Just disgusting.
Any additional comments?
If you are looking for real information on birth order try Born to Rebel: Birth Order, Family Dynamics, and Creative Lives or another book. This one is just boring and insipid.

Historia
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert of Green Gables had no intention of adopting the talkative, mischievous, red-headed girl the orphanage in Nova Scotia sent by mistake. What they wanted was a sturdy, sensible boy to help with the chores. Instead, they got 11-year-old Anne Shirley, whose capacity for adventure was only matched by her bright spirit and love of life. Still, there was something about the little girl that gave them second thoughts. She was keen of wit with a scintillating effervescence that was purely captivating. Just perhaps....

Great Book - not so great reading.
Revisado: 08-02-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes - it is one of the best youth books in the world.
What didn’t you like about Laurie Klein’s performance?
I thought she started out well but after a few chapters she seemed over-exaggerated and not true to character. Her voice was a little grating and the acting was bad.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes.

FUN and QUIRKY bits of life.
Revisado: 06-13-17
What made the experience of listening to Theft by Finding the most enjoyable?
Sedaris takes us on a journey filled of weird humans of the world. The French tales are amazingly close to my experiences as a Canadian working in Paris in the 90's.
What did you like best about this story?
I love Sedaris' take on life throughout the years - he touches on major events but finds the most interest in the doings of ridiculous human beings on a personal scale.
Which character – as performed by David Sedaris – was your favorite?
Sedaris' work is always best preformed by the author - I highly recommend this audiobook to all those who enjoy a good chuckle. If you think your life is not interesting a little Sedaris will help you see there is always something to laugh at.

Revisado: 05-31-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes - this is an epic book with a great read by Rob Inglis.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Peter Jackson did it better.
Any additional comments?
Rob Inglis does a fantastic read of this Tolkien classic - great characterizations and high drama all the way through. The only weak spot would be the songs - the guy is not a singer LOL.

Cheverell Manor is a lovely old house in deepest Dorset, now a private clinic belonging to the famous plastic surgeon George Chandler-Powell. When investigative journalist Rhoda Gradwyn arrived there one late autumn afternoon, scheduled to have a disfiguring and long-standing facial scar removed, she had every expectation of a successful operation and a pleasant week recuperating. Two days later she was dead, the victim of murder.

Great cozy mystery if you love PD James.
Revisado: 05-02-17
Would you listen to The Private Patient again? Why?
Yes - it's plot and characters are complex enough that a second or third listen could be enjoyed. PD James has a wonderful way with words and I always add to my dictionary when reading her.
Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?
She was good with all the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It is too long for that one sitting but makes you want to get back to it right away.
Any additional comments?
PD James is my absolute favourite mystery author and this read was great. I have tried to listen to Penelope Dellaportia's reads but they fall far short of the mark so it was pleasant to find a good reader attached to one of the Queen of Crime's books! Please make more!
