Historia
Maps fascinate us. They chart our understanding of the world and they log our progress, but above all they tell our stories. From the early sketches of philosophers and explorers through to Google Maps and beyond, Simon Garfield examines how maps both relate and realign our history. His compelling narratives range from the quest to create the perfect globe to the challenges of mapping Africa and Antarctica, from spellbinding treasure maps to the naming of America, from Ordnance Survey to the mapping of Monopoly and Skyrim and from rare map dealers to cartographic frauds.

Engages our need for curiosity
Revisado: 10-21-21
I've bern fascinated by history and by maps for over 60 years, starting with being chosen as co-pilot by my father for family road trips, to Trip-Tics, to using USGS maps for drawing site plans as an architect, to Google maps (never Apple Maps) and all it has evolved into, to birds eye view maps of historic places, to mapping the stars. This book matches my insatiable curiosity for both! Even though I thought certain chapters would not be of interest I always learned something. The reader engagingly shares the authors sense of wonderment and dry British wit, and I could not recommend it more highly to anyone who considers themselves a life-long learner. Looking forward to visiting the "mapamundi" at the Library of Congress.
The reason I did not give it 5 stars on performance - clumsy insertion of new reading in a lower tone throughout the last few chapters.

Historia
In this revolutionary audiobook, Dr. Lisa Mosconi, director of the Women's Brain Initiative at Weill Cornell Medical College, provides women with the first plan to address the unique risks of the female brain. Until now, medical research has focused on "bikini medicine", assuming that women are essentially men with breasts and tubes. Yet women are far more likely than men to suffer from anxiety, depression, migraines, brain injuries, and strokes. They are also twice as likely to end their lives suffering from Alzheimer's disease, even when their longer lifespans are taken into account.

A must read for women of all ages!
Revisado: 05-23-20
I was looking for information on how to increase estrogen in my post menopause life to help with recently diagnosed ADHD and stumbled upon Dr. Mosconi's TED talk. Hearing this was positive and stimulating to hear her focus on healthy brains for women. She is a primary researcher on Alzheimer's but her recommendations are focused on making sure women understand the implications of the food we eat, how much we move, how much we sleep, and how we use our brains, in addition to awareness of toxins in our food and in the environment. Excellent, brilliant, and inspiring writing and content!

Bill Clinton's dream of being a hero!
Revisado: 01-08-19
Engaging story once you get past the first couple of chapters, though the writing seems rather common. It seems as if President Clinton took the last few chapters to restate how he would lead the country now!

Dr Parker is a great story teller and I should have gotten this when I was diagnosed in 2014 at 62. There is tremendous information on types of ADHD (I'm Anxious) and medications, and what is safe to take with what.

PTSD and it's many forms
Revisado: 03-11-17
When I was given this audio by a friend who also lived with emotional childhood abuse I didn't want to read a story about Veterans. But the types of therapies described for different kinds of trauma was the most helpful as I search for guidance.
