Historia
Erin Gibson has a singular goal - to create a utopian future where women are recognized as humans. In Feminasty - titled after her nickname on the hit podcast Throwing Shade - she has written a collection of make-you-laugh-until-you-cry essays that expose the hidden rules that make life as a woman unnecessarily hard and deconstructs them in a way that's bold, provocative, and hilarious.

Historia
Misogyny is a hot topic, yet it's often misunderstood. What is misogyny, exactly? Who deserves to be called a misogynist? How does misogyny contrast with sexism, and why is it prone to persist - or increase - even when sexist gender roles are waning? This book is an exploration of misogyny in public life and politics by the moral philosopher Kate Manne. It argues that misogyny should not be understood primarily in terms of the hatred or hostility some men feel toward all or most women. Rather, it's primarily about controlling, policing, punishing, and exiling the "bad" women.

A classic work of feminist scholarship, Ain't I a Woman has become a must for all those interested in the nature of Black womanhood. Priceless book
Revisado: 08-22-20
I’m so grateful for this book. I’ve been interested in feminism for a while but I couldn’t hope but notice the under representation of non-white women in popular feminist work. This book was everything I hoped for and more. I have a developed understanding of black feminism history, that’s lacking in so many other books.

Historia
The United States is obsessed with virginity from the media to schools to government agencies. In The Purity Myth Jessica Valenti argues that the country’s intense focus on chastity is damaging to young women. Through in-depth cultural and social analysis, Valenti reveals that powerful messaging on both extremes ranging from abstinence curriculum to Girls Gone Wild infomercials place a young woman’s worth entirely on her sexuality. Morals are therefore linked purely to sexual behavior, rather than values like honesty, kindness, and altruism.

Revisado: 08-18-20
I’m so glad someone is finally talking about the obsession with virginity and women’s sexuality. I learned so much. I am so grateful for this book. This book is a must-read especially for religious/conservative young women, who I think have virginity forced on them more.

Jessica Valenti is one of my favorite feminists. After I read her book, Full Frontal Feminism, I was a fan. But not only of her articulation, intelligence, and sense of humor , but because I learned so much about feminism and it’s been life changing.
