Historia
Featuring a reluctant hero’s extraordinary journey through the cosmos, C. S. Lewis’s classic trilogy contains all the magic, invention, humour and big ideas of his Narnia novels. Thrilling, mystical and evocative, it mixes theology and mythology to tell the epic story of an interplanetary struggle between good and evil. This audio collection includes Alex Jennings’ unabridged readings of Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra, and a stunning full-cast adaptation of That Hideous Strength.

Alex Jennings good, THS bad
Revisado: 05-09-25
Alex Jennings does a great job with the first two books. Hard to leave an encapsulated review for two very different products when he’s worthy of 5 stars. That hideous strength is just “That Hideous” now.

Historia
In the bestselling The Signal and the Noise, Nate Silver showed how forecasting would define the age of Big Data. Now, in this timely and riveting new book, Silver investigates "The River," or those whose mastery of risk allows them to shape—and dominate—so much of modern life. These professional risk takers—poker players and hedge fund managers, crypto true-believers and blue-chip art collectors—can teach us much about navigating the uncertainty of the 21st century.

Fair minded, good information
Revisado: 09-23-24
As a libertarian Christian, I certainly don’t see the world exactly the same way as Nate, but I appreciated his perspective, his guidance through complicated systems, ideas, and groups, and his fair minded attitude even toward those with whom he disagrees.

Admirable effort
Revisado: 04-25-23
Although it’s generally a weaker story device to rely so heavily on flashbacks, it does allow for an in story narrator. The overall program is generally better written than acted, with a respectable effort put into the music, such that the more dramatic scenes are generally more effective than the quieter ones. It comes across primarily as a stage play stylistically, and seems likely to be primarily stage trained actors, and Mic’d, acted, and directed as such. They would have been better served to have invested in at least a few professional voice actors with a broader range of vocal style and sound. Overall, an enjoyable and worthwhile retelling of the story of Jesus, I found several parts very moving, and I hope to see even better releases from this studio in the future.

Historia
"Treasure Island" is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, narrating a tale of "buccaneers and buried gold". Its influence is enormous on popular perceptions of pirates, including such elements as treasure maps marked with an “X,” schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen bearing parrots on their shoulders. "Treasure Island" was originally considered a coming-of-age story and is noted for its atmosphere, characters, and action. It is one of the most frequently dramatised of all novels.

Unedited mistakes
Revisado: 06-02-21
It seems as if the last half of the program was never edited, with verbal slips, mid-pronounced words, and incorrect voices. Performance overall was ok, just poor editing.

Sub-par audio design
Revisado: 05-30-21
Reasonably well acted, but could use some help from the focus on the family radio theater crew on audio design. Lacking in proper sound affects and feeling, as well as score.

Historia
The acclaimed biography of the early church's greatest evangelist, the Apostle Paul. Master storyteller John Pollock makes Paul and his amazing story freshly alive, so that you can know the greatest apostle much as Luke and Timothy did as they traveled with him. As you listen, you'll sense Paul's motives, his aims and priorities; what mattered to him; and what he was willing to die for.

Outstanding

Exceptionally well done, moving piece of history come to life, the most useful part being eyes opened afresh to a better understanding of the epistles.
