Historia
Today’s conservatives know what they’re against. They’re anti-woke, anti-globalist, anti-big government. But what exactly do they stand for? The fact that this is a hard question to answer is a damning indictment of the modern Republican Party which has abjectly failed to articulate an affirmative alternative to the left’s vision. Ramaswamy calls on the conservative movement to articulate exactly what it stands for, or else warns of another illusory “red wave” in 2024.

Vivek is as clear and precise as always, articulating a meaningful vision for the modern right and pulling no punches in his assessment of the failures of our political establishment. If you ever doubted his bravery, you won't after reading this.

Historia
With the country in the grip of the Black Death, brothers John and William fear that they will shortly die and suffer in the afterlife. But as the end draws near, they are given an unexpected choice: either to go home and spend their last six days in their familiar world, or to search for salvation across the forthcoming centuries - living each one of their remaining days 99 years after the last. John and William choose the future and find themselves in 1447, ignorant of almost everything going on. The year 1546 brings no more comfort, and 1645 challenges them further....

Sometimes hard, with a good lesson
Revisado: 07-24-23
An often bleak tour through history, made more interesting by the 14th century perspective of the protagonist. The journey ends with a final lesson that, as a husband and man concerned with living rightly, made me tear up.
Let the dark parts of the story in and don't be afraid to feel them, people in history were just as human as you are.

Historia
You may be surprised to learn that microchips are the new oil—the scarce resource on which the modern world depends. Today, military, economic, and geopolitical power are built on a foundation of computer chips. Virtually everything—from missiles to microwaves—runs on chips, including cars, smartphones, the stock market, even the electric grid. Until recently, America designed and built the fastest chips and maintained its lead as the #1 superpower, but America’s edge is in danger of slipping, undermined by players in Taiwan, Korea, and Europe taking over manufacturing.

Historia
The destruction of the Death Star by the Rebel Alliance was a decisive blow against the Empire, but Palpatine and his monstrous enforcer, Darth Vader, are no less of a threat. The brutal extermination of Alderaan not only demonstrated the magnitude of their murderous power, but served as a chilling testament to their resolve to crush the Rebel uprising. Standing against them, Skywalker, Solo, and the Princess remain uncertain opponents. Luke is gifted and brave, but unschooled in the power he possesses.

Great story, good characters, and the usual top notch narration. Star Wars novels remain a refreshing exception to the decline of the franchise.

Writing was in Brad's voice, but the narrator seemed bored, and their tendency to run sentences together was very unpleasant. Buy this to support Brad, but don't expect greatness.

It’s the $10 million heist you’ve never heard of. In a matter of months, dozens of truckloads disappeared from American highways. But what were they carrying? Nuts. Marc Fennell takes you into a rabbit hole of crime syndicates, stolen identities and private investigators that will change the way you think about food forever. Eighty per cent of the world’s almonds are grown in the heart of California, but this journey will take you to Italy, the Spanish coast, deep under the earth and even into space.

Another Audible Original, Another Propaganda Piece
Revisado: 05-03-22
I wanted to enjoy this, I really did. The narration style was good. But the author ruined their work by injecting constant political preaching. This wasn't about crime, it was a political piece dressed up as a crime story.

Superlative, a Brilliant Explanation
Revisado: 02-22-22
A wonderful and well structured explanation of the irrational behavior that has been plaguing social media and our schools. I can't recommend this book highly enough to anyone who wants to understand what in the hell went wrong over the past 10 to 20 years and why things that are horribly racist are somehow decreed as OK by those who claim to hate racism.
If the conversation about race has stopped making sense to you because of its mounting logical inconsistencies, you should read this book.

Historia
Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

More About Emotions Than Science
Revisado: 09-29-20
This is a great example of how things labeled science don't live up to the name in important ways. They might have dragged some folks out into the wilderness for a few days and thrown an EKG on them, but that doesn't make the experiences chronicled in this book science. It's not blind, CERTAINLY not double-blind, and the number of uncontrolled variables are breathtaking. There aren't any control subjects, and some of the groups actually underwent counselling during their time outside. There is absolutely no way to distinguish the effects of simply the change of environment, or just time away from work and normal responsibilities, from the effects of nature.
Look, we all feel that being outside and in nature is good for us, but this book is absolutely not proof that we are right - or of anything else, for that matter.

Historia
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.
