Historia
Prue McKeel’s life is ordinary. At least until her brother is abducted by a murder of crows and taken to the Impassable Wilderness, a dense, tangled forest on the edge of Portland. No one’s ever gone in – or at least returned to tell of it. So begins an adventure that will take Prue and her friend, Curtis, deep into the Impassable Wilderness. There they uncover a secret world in the midst of violent upheaval - a world full of warring creatures, peaceable mystics, and powerful figures with the darkest intentions.

Narration a huge let down
Revisado: 10-06-23
I love this book and I was so excited to share it with my kids. We couldn’t even get through the first couple chapters because the narrator was so annoying and just bad. The timing is weird and off. Such a bummer. Won’t be a car book for road trips. We’ll have to read it at home which is also good. Hopefully the next couple will be read by someone else.

Historia
Welcome to the Home for Wayward and Misbegotten Creatures, an institution run by evil Miss Carbunkle, a cunning villainess who believes her terrified young charges exist only to serve and suffer. Part animal and part human, the groundlings toil in classroom and factory, forbidden to enjoy anything regular children have, most particularly singing and music. For the Wonderling, an innocent-hearted, one-eared, fox-like eleven-year-old with only a number rather than a proper name - a 13 etched on a medallion around his neck - it is the only home he has ever known.

Amazing!
Revisado: 02-16-19
This book was so incredible. Great characters and character development, great story and a super sweet ending. I hope there is a sequel or another book to read by the same author. It is rare to find a book we all enjoyed so much. And! To top it off this is by far the best narrator ever. I had no idea the difference it can make to have such a great reader with such great voices but now that we are regularly listening to audiobooks together and after hearing Simon Vance, I found myself searching for other books he reads and found another book we loved- Iron Hearted Violet.

Historia
In most fairy tales, princesses are beautiful, dragons are terrifying, and stories are harmless. This isn't most fairy tales. Princess Violet is plain, reckless, and quite possibly too clever for her own good. Particularly when it comes to telling stories. One day she and her best friend, Demetrius, stumble upon a hidden room and find a peculiar book. A forbidden book. It tells a story of an evil being - called the Nybbas - imprisoned in their world. The story cannot be true - not really. But then the whispers start....

Love Love Love this author and this narrator!

Kelly Barnhill is amazing. We loved The Girl Who Drank the Moon and we loved this book. Also this narrator is the best! He also narrated The Wonderling- which we also loved- and we were so happy to hear his voice for this book. He does such an excellent job with voices and mood. Our family (9yo and 12yo) listens to audio books almost every weekday night and this one is definitely one we all enjoyed.

Historia
There are only three things that matter to 12-year-old Alice Alexis Queensmeadow: Mother, who wouldn't miss her; magic and color, which seem to elude her; and Father, who always loved her. The day Father disappeared from Ferenwood, he took nothing but a ruler with him. But it's been almost three years since then, and Alice is determined to find him. She loves her father even more than she loves adventure, and she's about to embark on one to find the other.

Found the narrator really annoying
Revisado: 02-16-19
I think we would have enjoyed this book so much more with a different reader. His dramatic pauses were just way too much and really affected the mood and personalities of the characters. The story was pretty good and full of beautiful description but had a bit of an abrupt ending. Lots of build up and suspense then it just sort of ends.
