Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Must listen! Great performance. Awesome stories!
Revisado: 08-11-20
Saw a new book on Audible from Neil Gaiman, so downloaded it and dove in. TLDR... I had no idea....
The mental images were dark, Gothic, Sin City like grittiness... mixed with the undertones of American Gods, DCs Joker and a wistful the Graveyard Book.
The chapters were like episodic graphic novels mixed with Black Mirror... and as I drew close to finishing the audio book, I felt surely this would make a great TV series (or something)....
ONLY TO FIND THAT.... I've been living under a rock... O_o
The Sandman is the same publication that's been running since 1989 through to 2015 with more than 75 issues...
It is not only epic, it has received countless awards and is on multiple must-read lists.

Non-fictional fiction, in a present post-present
Revisado: 08-27-17
In this "Non-fictional fiction, in a present post-present" reality, the thin line between fiction and possibly is, at times, horrific.
While still much more light hearted and optimistic than it could have been, this glimpse into the future unveils the multitude of precipices humanity finds it self on.
For all that, the character development and story arc were very satisfying.

While still a bit miffed at Audible for not compiling the last three books together, at least the story has me wanting more.

Really wish I didn't have to waste a credit to listen to this mini book. You can't skip it if you want to read the series, so your screwed, as it is certainly worth reading, so I guess you'll just have to buy it....

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Dr Who Esk jaunt through time and space
Revisado: 03-16-17
While it took a while to get into the style Tom Merritt used in this story, particularly with the repetition of the main characters name, once I had drawn a mental parallel between this character, and Dr Who, another time travelling jack of all trades, I was able to focus on the development of Pilot X. While I understand the importance of the naming structure, it would have been easier to digest if sometimes the name was shortened.
The pacing of the story built up to a nice crescendo as it twisted and turned though time and space, and I think I might need to read it again to really grasp all the detail, but for a first effort, this story shows a lot of promise.
In another comparison to Dr Who, one of my favourite characters in the story was Pilot X's ship, but you'll just have to read it to find out why.

If you can ignore the narrator, it's a fun ride
Revisado: 01-30-17
When the narrator started I almost quit within the first 10min. She didn't read poorly, but the tone and sing song manner of any text that wasn't spoken by a character grated the entire book.
That said, the story was original and interesting. Started getting flashbacks to the movie "Momento".
All in all, listen to a preview before buying the book. If you can handle it, certainly worth giving it a try.

Quality book, not quality recording
Revisado: 09-04-16
I have been noticing more and more that the quality of recordings on audible seems to be a little bit less than I would expect. well for the most part there are no problems the occasional glitch and jump in recording really takes you out of the story and is very unfortunate.
The story of self is a great continuation in the series though this book did seem a little bit short, perhaps as I was enjoying it too much

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.
