I really did not like the resolution, but the jury getting there was pretty interesting.

Historia
The city of Celum is not much like Liscor at all. While Erin is surrounded by familiar, human faces, she’s far from home and without her inn. At the same time, a certain ill-tempered Lyonette is squatting in Erin’s inn, and Goblins are on the move. The Goblin Lord’s threat reaches across the entire region, and the Redfang tribe has rallied against him with the Floodplains tribe, although their Chieftains do not agree on some crucial matters. This winter, there is only snow, Goblins, magic, and iambic pentameter.

Historia
When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss - a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten - by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare - one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

Historia
One morning while passing through Grand Central Terminal on her way to work, Grace Healey finds an abandoned suitcase tucked beneath a bench. Unable to resist her own curiosity, Grace opens the suitcase, where she discovers a dozen photographs - each of a different woman. In a moment of impulse, Grace takes the photographs and quickly leaves the station. Grace soon learns that the suitcase belonged to a woman named Eleanor Trigg, leader of a network of female secret agents who were deployed out of London during the war.

Far fetched premise
Revisado: 08-29-22
The idea that someone finding some photos in an abandoned suitcase in a railway station, especially Grand Central, leads to the plot is frankly, unbelievable. Even in 1946. But learning about the SOE was riveting.

Historia
Tired of the pace and noise of life near London and longing for a better place to raise their young children, Mary J. MacLeod and her husband, George, encountered their dream while vacationing on a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. Enthralled by its windswept beauty, they soon were the proud and startled owners of a near-derelict croft house - a farmer’s stone cottage - on “a small acre” of land. Mary assumed duties as the island’s district nurse.

Pick an accent, any accent
Revisado: 11-01-16
The stories are sweet and at times heart breaking. I also have a dream of living in a remote Scottish Isle and though this is mostly set in 1970, it reawakened this desire. But Gwen Hughs' forced British accent was a bit hard to listen to. It dropped in and out and I found myself wishing she would stop trying and just read! First book I have listened to with her as a narrator but I will avoid anymore if the main character is not American.

Historia
On the River Road, at a dark bend in the South, a shadow lives. And at that bend, a man and his slave are pulled together by a mysterious connection. The master inherits a plantation and plans to marry his love and put aside his past, while the slave lingers at his side, accepting of his place and detached from hope. But neither man has memories that can easily be forgotten. When a death forces both of them onto the road, each races toward his own kind of freedom, which can only be earned in a place where neither one of them leads or follows. All the while, the shadow of the River Road pursues. It stalks them with steel and lead and perhaps the most dangerous weapon of all - the past.

Revisado: 01-09-11
I am a big Nigel Trantor fan and have actually read the book in hardcover, and it is a great book! Unfortunately, one would never know it by listening to THIS copy. The glitch has not been fixed, yet Audible is still selling and downloading the copy.
