This one is yet another great story that is a stand alone, yet interwove well into the Dragon kings books. I would recommend that you read or listen to it following Darius story in the Dragon kings, as it immediately follows in story line.

I am so pleased with this series. The stories are well written and narrated. I hope that books 5 through 8 will be put into audio format as well, and sooooooon!

I purchased this as an audio book several years ago, and have listened to it and the two sequels that follow probably five or six times.
I rarely give any book a five star rating, but this one deserves it. The story is so original, with the plot and each character being skillfully developed. It certainly isn't the typical formula romance..... I loved that each of the many characters changed and grows in each novel and over the sequels.
The narrator is just seperb. His presentation just enhanced an already perfectly written story.

I depend very much on the written reviews when I consider purchasing an audiobook. I have serious sight problems, so these audio books is my only real entertainment. So after once again listening to these books, I wanted to share that these books are well worth the credit. They are stories that you will probably want to enjoy many times.

The immortal guardians series is the best paranormal romance series out there. It's fresh, entertaining and a great vacation from the everyday world. Dianne Duvall is seamlessly consistent from book to book, as the story theme progresses. I love the care that she takes with character development.......not in boring exposition, but with superbly entertaining dualogue.
Narration is spot on for every character. The emotions and timing of the narration is simply perfect.......carrying both anger and humor in ways that completely draw the listener into the story.
I can't recommend this series highly enough and am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. Thank you Dianne !

kathryn, you've done it again . I love the old world stories, but I must say that this one was fresh and modern, yet it retained that magic that is so pleasing. the characters were well drawn and as I listened it was a most wonderful movie in my head. brian j gill is exquisite with the voices for both men and women. in fact no one does it better.

I most strongly recommend this one fornfirst class entertainment.

Would you consider the audio edition of An Echo in the Bone to be better than the print version?

I have read many of the books, then decided to buy the audio versions. There is absolutely no comparison that can be made. The autio version is so superior, due to the amazing abilities of Davina Porter. The books simply come alive in the audio versions. Her pronounciation of names and the Gaelic phrases, so wonderfully done add an unexpected beauty to the stories.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't really say who was a favorite character. I loved them all and was very happy that I could readily tell who was speaking by the changes of voice so well done by Davina Porter.I think that her "jamie" is superb. The changes of mood and emotion shown in his voice was perfection.

Which character – as performed by Davina Porter – was your favorite?

They were all done wonderfully well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Several years ago I had purchased the Lord John series including the Scottish Prisoner, all in book form. When I began An Echo in the Bone, I immediately saw that she had begun to bring the Outlander series and Lord John series together......as they had to if all story lines were to continue to progress.
I couldn't remember many of the smaller characters in the Lord John series and realized that An Echo in the Bone wasn't going to make a lot of sense or at least wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable if I didn't review the Lord John books. So I bought the audio ones and listened to them all again.......then restarted An Echo in the Bone. What a difference. The richness of the story and signifigance of the characters was most vibrant and added much to my enjoyment.
As the story now stands at the end of Echo in the Bone, I believe that if other readers want to enjoy this or furture books and not be constantly finding themselves wondering who some of the characters are or how they are realitive to the plot........get the Lord John series and listen to them all. They are very good and well worth your time.
Lord John and his family are in themselves both complicated and interesting. Also the Scottish Prisoner further defines his relationship to Jamie and is a darn good story, on its own merit.

Any additional comments?

Happy listening to all.
