Historia
In this astonishing and startling book, award-winning science and history writer Robert Whitaker investigates a medical mystery: Why has the number of disabled mentally ill in the United States tripled over the past two decades? Every day, 1,100 adults and children are added to the government disability rolls because they have become newly disabled by mental illness, with this epidemic spreading most rapidly among our nations children. What is going on?

Compelling book, boring narration...
Revisado: 08-31-10
I managed to make it through the entire book, but it's not easy to stay alert listening to the driest narration possible. I think I'm going to stick with fluffier nonfiction books for now on. Plus, I now know to truly listen to the audiobook sample and ask myself, "Could I listen to this narrator for 14 hours?" In the case of this book, I did, but it took the perseverance of a saint. I'd recommend you read this book and listen to something else.

Historia
Jeff Garlin has dedicated the filming of an entire season of Curb Your Enthusiasm to completely make over his lifestyle in two major ways—by lightening his physical and his ecological footprints. After many false starts, he believes that writing a book about the experiment is the only possible way to help him lose weight and go green.

Thanks, Jeff, for sharing your many lapses, slips and other mishaps along the way to a more healthy and environmentally-conscious lifestyle. You managed to keep it funny and you demonstrated the value of authenticity and openness about matters that are a source of shame.

Listening to our soldiers is always smart!
Revisado: 10-26-04
A quick listen, a quick read, and an informative book. It doesn't matter where you stand politically. If you are open-minded, you will listen to our soldiers. They are the people that are risking their lives every day. Thank you, Michael Moore, for donating the proceeds of this book to the families who lost loved ones in Iraq.

Fact-filled biography hard to put down...
Revisado: 09-19-04
My wife had no clue when she bought this book for me that it would change my vote. After the 2nd chapter, I was glued to the book. How could these things be true about our President? I listened to the entire book in less than two days. I am now getting the hardback to share with my conservative friends. How could I be so stupid to back a President that used cocaine at Camp David? There are more than 100 unique facts that if any one is true, I'm happy to vote for anyone but Bush.

An important polemic on wealth, power, and class in America, The Family is rich in texture, probing in its psychological insight, revealing in its political and financial detail, and stunning in the patterns that emerge and expose the Bush dynasty as it has never before been exposed.

Finally, Kelley exposes the truth!
Revisado: 09-18-04
OMG! If any one of the numerous facts shared by Mrs. Kelley is true, I am so thankful for having stuck to my instinct on the Bush Family. From outright racism and classism to drug abuse, adultery and scandal, the Bush Family exposes the truth behind the "image" that the Bush Family so eagerly projects. I only wish that many of the brave souls that bought weed from Laura Bush, snorted cocaine with George W. at Camp David, and had extramarital affairs with George 41 would speak up.

Historia
He is the scourge of Stupid White Men everywhere. He's taken on fat cats, gun nuts, lying politicians. The Guardian describes him as "a wake-up call, a kick in the mental backside". And now Michael Moore is back, daring to ask the most urgent question of these perilous times: Dude, Where's My Country?

If even 10% of what Moore says is true...
Revisado: 11-11-03
Yes, I have read this book. And, yes, I also like Franken. But Moore is clearly the KING of political satire. The scary thing, however, is just how much Moore seems to know about the "real" politics that are going on while most of the public sleeps. Just how close is Bush to the Saudis? Did Bush profit from the "war" in Afghanistan and Iraq? Why did Bush rush to help the Bin Ladens leave the US within hours of 9/11? Moore seems to have tapped into frustration most people have with modern day politicians, yet holds out persistent hope that we (the people) will wake up and smell the bulls***.

Historia
Finding logical inconsistencies, factual errors, and doublespeak wherever he looks, Al Franken takes on and destroys the myth of liberal bias in the media, hoists the Bush White House on its own rhetorical petard, and punctures the mean-spirited sanctimony of such media darlings as Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly. Timely, provocative, unfailingly honest, and always uproarious, Lies is sure to raise hackles and spark hilarity inside the Beltway and from sea to shining sea.

Thank you, Al Franken!
Revisado: 09-16-03
Al Franken has the courage to point out the outright lies told by the lying liars on the "fair and balanced" right. From O'Liely (Bill O'Reilly) to Hannity, Bush, Coulter, etc., etc., Al exposes the lies in a deliberate, highly referenced manner.. but with LOL jokes and puns throughout. Of course, I am not a republican. I'm not a democrat. I am, however, a person that is sick and tired of the right wing media and the sour economy.
