Historia
After the death of their father, Lord Featherstone, sisters Poppy and Annise, along with their mother, endure their new living arrangements at their Edinburgh house with their half-brother and his greedy and jealous wife. The only good to come of it is that the new lady of the house has brought her enigmatic and dashing brother, Dougal MacKay, with her. A whirlwind romance begins between the two, until the new Lady Featherstone puts a rather vicious end to it, and insists the recent widow and her daughters be removed from the house and cut off without a penny.

Bad character narration
Revisado: 03-20-25
I'm about half way through and can't tolerate the character narration. I should have purchased with credits so I could return it.

Historia
Sam Johnstone was hoping for renewal when he took a job at a boutique law firm in rustic Wyoming. The mountains and streams of the West would be a refreshing, quiet place to start over after years of war and turmoil in his personal life. But after a local woman is brutally murdered, Sam realizes that things aren’t so quiet in this rural American town. The accused is one Tommy Olsen, a known delinquent who had been sleeping with the victim. Sam is repulsed by the crime and wants nothing to do with the case but meets with Tommy to make sure he has legal representation.

Too much back story
Revisado: 11-10-24
Chapter 7 and main character appeared once. Should it take this long to set up the story. There are too many characters to keep up with. Narration is so, so and I'm bored. I don't know if I'll finish listening to this book.

Excellent storyline
Revisado: 08-23-24
The storyline was excellent. Narrator Brian J. Gill was great, as always, and I enjoyed all the characters except Dustin. I found myself fast-forwarding through Dustin's petulant, selfish behaviors that existed throughout the story. Her behavior was very exaggerated and tiresome to listen to.

Character voices aren't good
Revisado: 07-02-24
The story description sounded interesting but I can't take anymore. The narrator doesn't do character voices well. The female voice is off. Hopefully I can get a credit back.

This is my second read/listen from Beverly Jenkins. I love her writting style. The story was well written and flowed flawlessly without unnecessary reiterating. The narration of characters was great.

Good story line
Revisado: 04-13-24
Tim Campbell is always great. He brings the characters to life but Rona's character was a bit too defiant for my listening taste. Her character reminded me of a defiant child instead of an outspoken, independent wife. The story had its moments but for me it was just okay.

Good story that could have been better. It was not deep enough and romance scenes became monotonous. Tim Campbell was great as always. I will listen to the next book because I'm curious about Burke. I'm hoping the library will have it.

Kate's character voice was too awkward. All scenes and chapters seemed the same. The story did not come to life for me and I couldn't take it anymore.
