I liked that this book had plenty of practical advice while also feeling like it was educating me on the overall concept of productivity—how great people have been productive historically and the timeless principles of their approaches.

The depth of metaphor
Revisado: 01-18-24
The illustrations of Biblical concepts (the triumph of good over evil, the subtle nature of evil, and how good often seems reversed to the human eye until examined in the divine light) were inspiring and thought provoking.

I’ll listen again
Revisado: 11-15-19
This book contextualizes the history of civilization in a way that is really helpful to an understanding of the world we live in; politics, philosophy, art, religion, government, war, etc. The writing itself is a treat to listen to as well, ideas are beautifully articulated. I wasn’t expecting this book to be as amazing as it is. Just so profoundly enlightening about the basic trends in human thinking that we are benefitted by remaining keenly aware of.

Historia
In 1851, Father Jean Marie Latour comes to serve as the Apostolic Vicar to New Mexico. What he finds is a vast territory of red hills and tortuous arroyos, American by law but Mexican and Indian in custom and belief. In the almost forty years that follow, Latour spreads his faith in the only way he knows—gently, all the while contending with an unforgiving landscape, derelict and sometimes openly rebellious priests, and his own loneliness. Out of these events, Cather gives us an indelible vision of life unfolding in a place where time itself seems suspended.

Colorful, deep story
Revisado: 05-18-18
An immersion into the 1800s southwest USA from the standpoint of a humble priest. You can feel every detail; the story telling of the author is masterful and the narrator captures it all beautifully. Great perspective on religion in the “new world” at that time.

Revisado: 03-23-18
A thoughtful, unassuming, and tremendously helpful take on Genesis 1 and biblical creation narrative. The humility and desire of the author not to speak beyond his expertise alone makes this book worth reading/listening to. This is for all students of Scripture.

Immersive story that brings you into the land
Revisado: 01-19-18
I’d recommend this book to anyone trying to understand the context of the Jewish or Christian Scriptures.
One of the best elements of this book is how the land comes alive. I will now read the first five books of the Bible feeling more connected with the people traversing the land God was leading them in and using as a part of His teachings about Himself to the Israelites. Feiler’s journey through this terrain has been a support to my own life journey.
