Historia
Comedy writer and middle daughter of Al Gore, Kristin Gore has written a funny and moving debut novel about life on Capitol Hill as seen through the eyes of Samantha Joyce, a 26-year-old health care analyst to Ohio Junior Senator Robert Gary. Hard working, idealistic, extremely competent, as well as neurotic and prone to daydreaming, Sammy, as she's known to her friends, has little time for anything, much less a relationship.

One of my favorite books
Revisado: 10-14-23
Sammy’s Hill is one of my very favorite books. I first read it years ago, and I had forgotten how much I love it. The main character is quirky and eccentric in a good way, in my opinion. I laughed throughout the book.

Way too dramatic
Revisado: 08-16-23
I listened to all three books. None of them are bad, but they are all way too dramatic. The main guy in each one has a tortured savior complex, and it’s so frustrating. Also, they are too gratuitous for my taste. I’m not looking for a clean romance novel, but there is a point that it becomes too much.

Historia
Rife with the indulgent pleasures of life among New York’s one-percenters, Pineapple Street is a smart, escapist novel that sparkles with wit. Full of recognizable, loveable—if fallible—characters, it’s about the peculiar unknowability of someone else’s family, the miles between the haves and have-nots, and the insanity of first love—all wrapped in a story that is a sheer delight.

The first half is great; the rest is not quite as good.
Revisado: 07-04-23
I really liked the first half of this book. The second half is fine, but it’s just not as interesting as the first half. I would still recommend it, but not as enthusiastically as I first thought I would.

A small Georgia town erupts in panic when a young college professor is found brutally mutilated in the local diner. Good but hard to listen to
Revisado: 05-16-23
It’s a good book, but it’s hard to listen to the violent parts. I do plan to listen to more works by this author, but I’ll have to take a break for a while. Too much violence is bad for my mental health.

Historia
With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

I absolutely loved both the book and the narration. Somehow I had never read Anne of Green Gables, and I found it absolutely delightful. Also, I know some people complained about the narration, but I think Rachel McAdams did a fantastic job.

I truly LOVED Ayesha at Last! It is a wonderful take on Pride & Prejudice. I couldn't wait to finish it so I could hear the rest of the story, but I was sad when it was over. I will definitely be listening to it again.

It’s ok.
Revisado: 05-22-22
I didn’t like the story for the first half of the book. The main character, Arthur, was fine, but I didn’t like Maddie. The story gets a lot better halfway through and ends well. I might not have kept listening, but I was driving, and wasn’t able to choose and download a new book. The narration is ok.
