could be a classic of a classic

I was granted Early Access to this title by netgate. all opinions written here are my own .
A review of once a queen by Sarah Arthur
this book reminds me a lot of other classic fairy tales like The Lion, the witch wardrobe series or the never-ending story or many other classic tales where there is a portal to another world where kids get to step through, but not necessarily adults unless they have the right heart. I very much enjoyed this take on the whole thing and I hope that this book becomes a series and that we get to see what happens to the rest of the characters.. thank you Sarah Arthur for writing this delightful tale. I look forward to reading more of your work in future if I should have such a privilege.

Historia
Making a much-anticipated return to the world of Hild, Nicola Griffith’s Menewood transports listeners back to seventh-century Britain, a land of rival kings and religions poised for epochal change. Hild is no longer the bright child who made a place in Edwin Overking’s court with her seemingly supernatural insight. She is eighteen, honed and tested, the formidable lady of Elmet, now building her personal stronghold in the valley of Menewood.

I love the whole series of these books
Revisado: 04-04-24
I received an advanced copy of this book from netgate. all opinions I write here are my own. when I originally started this book I didn't finish it on time because I went back and read held the book previous to this one because I felt I needed some background. I'm glad I did. the two books fit together perfectly in the same way that the patterns fit together that they talk about in the two books. I love the characters in this book. in fact, I love them so much that it was hard to finish this book in places and it's taking me many months. I went through the whole range of emotions reading this book emotions that I think have been dormant for a while in my day today. life that's good to read books that can force you to think for you to feel. when I say force, it's not like the force of the battle, but you still end up exploring things you didn't intend to. I love books like this because it gives you a window into the past with just enough fiction that it makes everything okay and still leaves questions that we might not find answers to. I thank the author for having the passion and dedication to put this book together in such a wonderful way and for introducing me to a new set of literary friends that I wouldn't have found anywhere else. I highly recommend this book and it's previous book Hilld they are wonderful

Historia
Half-Iraqi, half-American Sirine is a cook at Nadia's Cafe, which draws the neighborhood's Arab students, expatriates, and exiles. All are hungry for "real true Arab food" and connection to their homes. One is Hanif Al Eyad, a new hire in the Near Eastern Studies Department at the university who fled Iraq as a young man. Sirine and Han fall in love over food: a baklava they make together, delicate lamb dishes, hummus glistening with olive oil....

small gaps
Revisado: 03-30-22
there are some bits missing from the printed version of the book versus the audio version but overall the story is wonderful and no major parts are missing I just thought someone should know even that small detail

not what I expected
Revisado: 08-09-21
I got this book because I thought it was something else I had heard an excerpt from another book by the same name this story is sweet I recommend it however there are a few mistakes minor though they might be and I'm not sure if it's the narrator or the book itself but I still appreciate that this book was written even though it wasn't the book I expected I wonder about having books by the same name though and I wonder if others will be confused as I was this book should be getting just as much media attention as the other we need more sweet stories

I love this book so much
Revisado: 06-25-20
hello Zach I hope that you actually get a chance to read this review because I really appreciate the fact that you wrote down your memoirs and this way I am 38 years old and I too have the sexiest of palsies.🙂 I heard about your book several years ago while visiting a friend in the hospital and allowed myself to buy it just before the first quarantine involving covid-19 20/20 reading this book during this time and being able to laugh with you at experiences that I can look at it and say yep been there buddy helped me to make it through one of the more bleak times in my life up to this point. and has given me a new perspective on myself an appreciation for what I might have to offer the world thank you so much for putting this out there I can only imagine (there's been stuff I wanted to put out there but was just too scared) can't wait to spread the word about this.
