I am the same age as Prince Harry. My older brother is the same age as his. I've watched him grow up alongside me, from America, from afar. Prince Harry's book tells a story that needed to be told of how tragic it was to lose such a mother at such a young age. The frankness and honesty, the poignant recollections of his family, all serve to be as direct a view into Harry's life as any I've ever seen. I think people used to reading tabloids can skip it. This is the story of Harry's point of view, and although he might come across as bitter if you take his words as melodramatic, he does not intend this meaning, but rather a nuanced explanation of how he feels and felt about being a royal.

This was in the Plus catalog so I gave it a try. If you want a high school class on medieval times, this is for you. I know she is a college professor, but it is definitely high school level language and teaching. She does know her topic very well, but she is too concerned with trying to tell a story in layman's terms. Be prepared for a lot of, "this guy did this to those guys over here," and "like so and so were like this, dude." The most scientific part, was the plague chapter. The most inspiring part was the King Arthur chapter. But by the time she got through with mocking religious attitudes, in my opinion, and moved on to discussing Game of Thrones, I was out. Her points were good, she just assumes she has to sound like a student in a coffee shop and not like an expert in her field. I was looking forward to getting more reading material out of this, but she only says, "modern scholars say this."

the music is bad, the narrator is Sean Astin, I think, and he sounds like a teenager. I could not finish it. I want a refund of my credit. buyer beware.

Very relevant to this day. I liked his understanding of vice and virtues. He discusses grace, but never uses the word "grace." He discusses the trinity in a very relatable way as well.

The prose is very beautiful, but the foils he uses to extrapolate his points against are very much dated. I've never even heard before that HG Wells wrote a history, but it is constantly refuted in this book. Also, his criticism of his contemporary scientists who studied anthropology and the missing links is somewhat premature. But where he shines is in his understanding of Rome, Greece, Carthage, and antiquity. I would recommend this book.

I am not a gentleman yet, though growing up I had a respect for classical characters in fiction that were gentlemanly, but I am going to be one after this book. It makes you think about how you live your life, and brought to mind many mistakes I've made, and made sense to me just where I went wrong. I am thirty-six years old and it is never too late to strive to be a gentleman. Sometimes I think the author doesn't explain well enough why someone he disagrees with is wrong. I think he misses some chances to make a point more thought provoking. But on the whole, I am greatly moved by the book. Eleanor of Aquitaine was a surprisingly fresh find for me in it. I was moved by her life, and only mention it now to showcase how the historical matter is worthwhile just for itself in this book. Good job, Mr. Miner!

Offering a christian perspective to space and alien civilizations without browbeating or even mentioning Christ overtly. He and His mission is very much implied and is almost a covert secret with Lewis's audience. I love the third and last book the best, but this is a great start. I would reccommend to anyone with an open mind to consider the implications of the Christian idea of a fallen man and how he would interact with non-fallen intelligent life.

Also, great stabs at the so called "White Man's Burden," and colonialism in general. Lewis is True Blue.
