Historia
When Jane, a world-famous Harvard oncologist, suddenly collapses at work, the medical team resuscitating her makes a shocking discovery: she has advanced breast cancer that she’s been hiding for years. The results are catastrophic. In Sickness shows how even the most rational people can be nearly destroyed by their irrational fears. Tragic, moving, and wryly funny at times, this is an unflinching portrayal of a complicated marriage and its secrets.

Such an honest and authentic portrayal of a progressive marriage, neurodiversity, and the way we love who we love in the best way we can.

Historia
Brittany Means’s childhood was a blur of highways and traumas that collapsed any effort to track time. Riding shotgun as her mother struggled to escape abusive relationships, Brittany didn’t care where they were going. But as Brittany grew older and questioned her own complicated relationships and the poverty, abuse, and instability that enveloped her, she began to recognize that hell wasn’t only the place she read about in the Bible; it was the cycle of violence that entrapped her family.

Brave and powerful memoir!
Revisado: 02-04-24
This is a difficult story to hear, but worth it. The author is strong and resilient, but healing is clearly a journey. This was such a great reminder that compassion is always the right answer.

Historia
When Stephanie Land set out to write her memoir Maid, she never could have imagined what was to come. Handpicked by President Barack Obama as one of the best books of 2019, he called it an “unflinching look at America’s class divide…and a reminder of the dignity of all work.” Later, it was adapted into the hit Netflix series Maid, which was viewed by sixty-seven million households and was Netflix’s fourth most-watched show in 2021, garnering three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Stephanie’s escape out of poverty and abuse in search of a better life inspired millions.

Honest and Inspiring
Revisado: 11-22-23
I loved every minute of this book and can’t wait to hear more from Stephanie Land. If you can’t relate or be inspired by her writing, then you are in denial of the reality of the hardships we place upon single Mothers across America (especially those who are trying to better their situation) Stephanie writes the truth and it is so good to hear it spoken out loud.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

I have read all of Dr. Newton’s books and am so glad that Dr. Clark and others are carrying on his work! I think they did an excellent job collaborating on this and it is so interesting to hear findings from many different practitioners.

This book is uncomfortably graphic. Difficult to follow, not what I would call artistic. Depressing
