Historia
In the first weeks after World War II, a squeaky-clean new second lieutenant named James D. Cronley Jr. is spotted and recruited for a new enterprise that will eventually be transformed into something called the CIA. One war may have ended, but another one has already begun, against an enemy that is bigger, smarter, and more vicious: The Soviet Union. The Soviets have hit the ground running, and Cronley's job is to help frustrate them, harass them, and spy on them any way he can.

Meh
Revisado: 05-23-18
This is a somewhat critical review. I have enjoyed many of his books, but with this one, I found myself just getting tired of all of the ‘dressing down’ by so-called a superior officers to their juniors. In my 37 years of service in three military branches, both as enlisted and officer, I have rarely ever heard the kind of drama queen emotional explosions as I did in this book. I found myself drifting as they droned on and on and on about the interrogation of one guy. I need “movement“ in a book and excitement and development and I found very little of that in this one. Sorry W.E.B.

Mike Wickett - My favorite for decades
Revisado: 03-13-18
Here in South Florida there are used to be an AM radio station entitled The Winners News Network. All day long they broadcast clips of the most well-known and best motivational speakers of the day. These included Earl Nightingale, Zig Ziglar, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn and many, many others covering a wide variety of subjects. No one ever motivated me as much as Mike Wickett through his sincerity, passion, believability, and delivery. I wore out his tape series “It’s All Within Your Reach” and I had to order another one. His talks ring just as true today as they ever have. I highly recommend Mike Wickett.

Historia
Four friends, recent college graduates, travel to Kenya to work at a giant refugee camp for Somalis. Two men, two women, each with their own reasons for being there. But after twelve weeks, they’re ready for a break and pile into a Land Cruiser for an adventure. They get more than they bargained for. Bandits hijack them. They wake up in a hut, hooded, bound, no food or water. Hostages. As a personal favor, John Wells is asked to try to find them, but he does so reluctantly. East Africa isn’t his usual playing field.

John Wells Doing What He Does Best
Revisado: 05-28-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I loved this book. It takes you on a journey into a land John Wells is not familiar with, but what he IS familiar with is human nature. Wells does things his own way and highly effective. In this kidnapping for ransom caper, figuring out where the bad guys went seems a monumental task, but we quickly see there are methods and then there are John Wells methods.
