Historia
Centuries ago, Spanish conquistadors searching for gold and new lands encountered a group of independent city-states in Mesoamerica. Sophisticated beyond the Spaniards' wildest imaginings, these people were the Aztecs, the Maya, and related cultures that shared common traditions of religion, government, the arts, engineering, and trade. In many ways more advanced than European nations, these societies equaled the world's greatest civilizations of their time.

This adventure in science and imagination, which the Medical Tribune said might herald "a Copernican revolution for the life sciences", leads the listener through unexplored jungles and uncharted aspects of mind to the heart of knowledge. In a first-person narrative of scientific discovery that opens new perspectives on biology, anthropology, and the limits of rationalism, The Cosmic Serpent reveals how startlingly different the world around us appears when we open our minds to it.

Reading this book a third time. It's a good length, not too long but packed with information. For me, it was important how the author wrote from the perspective of sceptical scientist who wants to help people, and who adapted his views to accept shamanism after his first-hand experiences. Fascinating read!

Historia
Are history books giving us the whole story? Or is civilization far more complex and for older than we have been taught? Our school textbooks barely mention the 6,000-year-old Sumerian civilization, yet the latest archaeological findings at sites such as Jericho, and most recently, Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, have been dated to 10,000 BC. Civilization goes back at least another 10,000 years, if we are willing to believe what our ancestors themselves claimed.

A book to read again and again
Revisado: 01-29-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written and well presented. I find the subject matter utterly fascinating, and the author did a good job presenting his case in light of verifiable facts as well as given science's views on the subjects. I appreciate how he uses science but also highlights where science is limited. Great book, and I'll be reading it again soon.

Fake sexy voices.. aren't sexy!
Revisado: 08-29-16
Tried but couldn't finish this book. Couldn't even finish a single chapter actually. The narrators voices are so phony sounding - why can't they just read in a normal voice?? It would be far more sensual if it wasn't put on. The writing is what I expected.. not great, too many stupid sounding words and phrases like "boob basket." Sorry but I need a bit more intelligent erotica. :(

What made the experience of listening to Ultimate Journey the most enjoyable?
Mr. Monroe's story and experiences
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ultimate Journey?
His experiences with meeting other versions of himself
Have you listened to any of Kevin Pierce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, the two previous books. Equally good performance. Pleasant, comforting voice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Too many to list. I intend to read all three books again soon.
Any additional comments?

Historia
Using tools as varied as archaeo-astronomy, geology, and computer analysis of ancient myths, author Graham Hancock presents a compelling case to suggest that the story of mankind is far older than we have previously believed. And as the truth about prehistory and the real meaning of ancient myths and monuments is revealed, it becomes apparent that a warning has been handed down to us: a terrible cataclysm that afflicts the Earth at irregular intervals of time may be about to occur.

Max Tegmark leads us on an astonishing journey through past, present and future, and through the physics, astronomy, and mathematics that are the foundation of his work, most particularly his hypothesis that our physical reality is a mathematical structure and his theory of the ultimate multiverse. In a dazzling combination of both popular and groundbreaking science, he not only helps us grasp his often mind-boggling theories, but he also shares with us some of the often surprising triumphs and disappointments that have shaped his life as a scientist.

Excellent
Revisado: 03-17-15
A well researched and very well composed book. Coppens presents the best evidence to support his arguments as well as evidence to counter arguments. He gives his sources as well as how reliable (or not) they are. I learned a great deal of things from this book. If you find this book intriguing and wish to go further - I recommend Graham Hancock's Supernatural as it deals with some of the same content but with more detail.
