Great story, but feels like ending was very abrupt with way to many cliffhangers

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Felt cheated
Revisado: 07-08-16
although this is a well written and good sci-fi book, it is obvious that whoever just chopped the story up to sell more books. the books end at unusual places with little if any suspense.

Historia
The mind-numbingly alien Arachnids were an enemy whose like no civilized race had ever confronted. Like some carnivorous cancer, the "Bugs" had overrun planet after planet...and they regarded any competing sentient species as only one more protein source. They couldn't be reasoned with, or even talked to, because no one had the least idea of how to communicate with a telepathic species with no recognizable language...and whose response to any communication attempt was a missile salvo.

The Future of War looks confusing
Revisado: 02-03-15
What did you like best about Atlas? What did you like least?
I like the idea behind this book and I think with a bit more thought and attention to detail, this would be a slam dunk. Sadly I think the author forgot this was a science fiction novel at times. I mean this book is set in the future with tons of future tech, ie anti gravity, star travel, giant mechs, autonomous robots, and advance medicine. However, why are they using weapons from the Vietnam war and Desert Strom? M60 machine gun, Carl Gustav rocket launchers and M4 carbines....really? Where are the plasma cannons, rail guns, particle weapons, hyper velocity missiles, come on? The author can not expect us to believe that humanity has achieved star travel and such and our best most elite troopers are using weapons from 1950's, 1960's and the 1990's....REALLY?
Would you recommend Atlas to your friends? Why or why not?
Toss up really, let me finish the series since I already purchased them and hopefully it will get better.
Would you be willing to try another one of Rhett Samuel Price’s performances?
Already have book two, so hopefully the author realized his errors.
Do you think Atlas needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Of course...this has potential.
Any additional comments?
Hey Mr. Hooke, don't be afraid to put sci-fi in your sci-fi book. That's why we buy them.

Could have been....
Revisado: 05-07-11
Well although I really enjoy the series and further more all of Mr. Ringo's books, I believe this one could have been better. I understand the need for properly setting up a story, however this was a little much. So much of this book revovled around "Parker", it should have been called "Comet".... The first half of the book had not one action scene whatsoever, except for the "jungle ball." There should have been more action and I hope the next edition will oblige....
