Good Idea, Poorly Executed

I came in with such high hopes, it was a really good idea (obviously since it hooked me enough to buy it) but unfortunately it’s filled with a lot of overused outdated stereotypes about psych and a fairly predictable and common plot, making it a bit of a dry cliché.

Was very difficult to get immersed bc of the blaring inaccuracies of basic hospital protocols. (Like not sharing patient information with other patients even before any rising action drama). It could have been so much better with a little more updated realism and a unique ending.

The ending (without giving away specific details) basically feels like Sonehearst Asylum if the FMC was a naive 20-something year old with zero business being in a medical facility. I can’t personally get invested in a MC with a core trait that’s to just repeatedly make the same mistakes (panicking and overthinking) and never experiences any character development, redemption arch or change. That just left me feeling disappointed, there was no growth or point for this characters story.

Well… I’m one more book closer to my reading goal so that’s something.

Ended too quickly! If the last 5 chapters had been stretched into a second book, this story would have been perfect❤️

If anyone actually wants to read a VERY poorly written trilogy posing as Dark Romance meets Jurassic Park but is in ACTUALITY just a JP inspired fan fiction written with sexist stereotypes of a “strong” FMC. This is for you. I wanted to like this SO much but the pushing of the patronizing Christian agenda in combination with every danger being resolved/avoided by “twisting hips” PLUS and the amount of inaccurate science and cringe dialogue made this a challenge to finish. I kept telling myself it would get better, in the end, I’m just disappointed.
