Koontz best ever!
Revisado: 05-12-22
I have read/listened to many many Koontz novels, along with other authors, same genre. In my opinion, Innocence is at the top of the list. You will hear the good, the bad , the ugly, along with beautiful Innocence...you wont be sorry. The narrator is as always, fabulous. I hope Hollywood does not make a movie of this book...they would only tarnish it.

Now imagine closing your eyes and remembering your mother’s tears splashing down on your face as she is on top of you, crying as she is trying to choke you to death. My mother left me these memories and many more during my traumatic childhood. After many years of struggling with trying to understand "Why me?" I took back control of my life and started saying, "It was me, now what am I going to do?" The answer is my book, "Why Me?"

I'm glad I didn't listen to some of the other reviews. I listened in 2 sittings. I wanted to listen all at once...but life happens. I thought the characters were believable and performed well by the narrator. I didn't guess at all who the bad person was. So go ahead and listen to this book.

Revisado: 10-12-20
I listened to this book in two sittings that’s how good this book is. The storyline is very interesting and I liked the author’s’ development of the characters where each of them grew in spirit. No, it’s not a five star great classic, but for the genre and storyline it rated five stars from me. Narrator was very good too.

Historia
January 12, 1888, began as an unseasonably warm morning across Nebraska, the Dakotas, and Minnesota, the weather so mild that children walked to school without coats and gloves. But that afternoon, without warning, the atmosphere suddenly, violently changed. One moment the air was calm; the next the sky exploded in a raging chaos of horizontal snow and hurricane-force winds. Temperatures plunged as an unprecedented cold front ripped through the center of the continent.

Not for me
Revisado: 01-07-19
I was anxious to hear the accounts of this blizzard for sure. I was listening and the reader is reading an account of adults and children who perished during the blizzard. It goes into detail on how these people died...all well and good...but I got to thinking, the author is giving so much detail on how a child left school and died while out in the blizzard...great detail. So, I'm thinking how does the author know this is what the child did, where there is no record of such detail. For instance, a child left his group ran back in the school and got a bottle...then we are told just what this child did when he got back outside. How does the author know why he went back and the childs thoughts and decision making. Maybe I'm overly critical...but write the facts that are known.

Historia
Ghosts don't exist in our world of today. Life is too pragmatic, too consuming, too busy for past lives to linger on longer than their allotted time, or so Halcyon had believed, until she received a letter from a lawyer claiming that her mother, whom she had thought long dead, had actually been living in another part of the country since Halcyon's early childhood. She had only recently passed away, leaving Halcyon heir to an unexpected fortune and an estate on an isolated island in the middle of the Great Lakes.
