Historia
My nine-year-old daughter Hollie should be leaving school smiling and laughing with all the other children but she’s not here. I run frantically, checking everywhere, my voice growing louder, but I can’t see her bright blue eyes and heart-shaped face anywhere. Pure panic washes over me. This is my worst nightmare. Her teacher asks me if she should call the police. My heart stops. I shake my head and pretend I’ve made a mistake. I see a look of suspicion creep into the teacher’s eyes. But the police can’t know. No one can. My hands shake as I realise I’m completely on my own.

Revisado: 04-19-25
I got this book because I like JD Kirk. I knew what was going to happen with this from the beginning and I don't like that. I think the narrator is perfect for Heather Filson and Tammy Jo, but not for a serious book.
The story was well written and had plenty of suspense but not the things I like about the DCI Logan multiverse like humor and commaraderie. This was better for me than Him because I don't like AI.

A young female university student seen nearby may hold the only key to unlocking the case. And like a bloodhound, Girvin follows the new leads. But being ex-army, her cold demeanour is a magnet for risk takers.

pathetic
Revisado: 04-06-25
A pathetic killer who is not at all likeable. Many people go through much worse real abuse and don't go around killing others.
Bugs are nasty, and psychological abuse is bad. The confession to "friends" was really stupid because they were drunk and young.
All together a weak plot.
Worse, bring on the clowns instead of send in the clowns.

Interesting
Revisado: 04-01-25
I think Ronan did a great job of putting all of his interviews together to make a story. I don't believe a word the woman said. It is totally believable that she is delusional since Fox was involved. The drunken ramblings of a rich, attention seeker are really not of much interest to me. I think their robbery was staged. The fact that it was an outlier makes it more likely. Rockefeller the VP of an unelected president! Because I have never watched reality tv I have a problem with this woman who thinks the world revolves around her. I am glad her daughter keeps the boundaries because her mother knows nothing about them and that she has done so much work on herself so that she can live a meaningful life.

Historia
The strongest lies aren’t the ones we tell others—they’re the ones we tell ourselves. I thought I'd found my fairy tale ending when Andrew Chadwick saved my life during a hotel fire and gave me a whirlwind love story I didn’t think existed. But trusting him made me vulnerable, and believing in the impossible made me an easy target. Six months later, we're celebrating our dream wedding at an exclusive island resort, where every luxury imaginable is at our fingertips. It should be perfect. It should be paradise. But it's not.

Revisado: 04-01-25
A very blah story with pathetic characters. No character development was evident. The narration was almost whiny. A totally predictable story from the first minute. I chose the bad guys on meeting them the first time. The main character was naive and stupid. The whole managed resort wedding was really off putting for me. I only kept listening to see if something real would happen. It didn't I

Revisado: 03-25-25
I don't know why I keep listening to these. Actually, I do: they are free. I hate these overly dramatized things. The story was weak and the ending very predictable. Far too much drama. Sorry to see a great writer doing things like this.

Do not like AI
Revisado: 03-15-25
Out of all of the books I have read by this author I have two I don't like as well as the others. This is one of them because I have a dislike of AI. It is well written and narrated, but not one I will listen to again. The other is about social media influencers. I really don't do social media and when I run across someone claiming to be an expert in something I want to see credentials so people doing things I am not interested in or even things I might be interested in really don't interest me.
Other than that I love JD Kirk books and Angus King narrating.
I listened to this for three reasons. The author is one of my favorites, his work is great, and it was free!

Revisado: 02-28-25
The story is good, but narration is awful. I don't like his voice first of all and some mispronounced words and names are a problem. Mary Land instead of Maryland is one glaring example. I have caught up to all of my favorite authors so I have been looking for others. This is a one time thing here. Just not my thing.
