Started out great then it went down hill from there.
Revisado: 03-02-24
Great setup, good foreshadowing, but it went down hill from there. The payoffs where all lack luster and the MC was just given everything without a struggle. The characters are all cookiecutter lacking any original characteristics. I question the authors morals by the end, its like he is writing about something he knows about, but doesn't truly understand.

Damn long wait for a cliff hanger.
Revisado: 07-21-20
I wanted to drop stars for the long wait, but I love these books too much. I did drop a star for the cliff hanger ending which I do for all such books. The cliff hanger is just a cheap tool for weak writers which Mr Butcher is not, and Harry doesn't need it either.

Historia
A group of some of the most powerful people in the government, the military, and the private sector has begun a brutal plan to quietly take over the reins of the US government. They've begun to remove the people who stand in their way - and replace them with their own sympathizers and puppets. They've already taken out the Speaker of the House - whose death was made to look like an accidental drowning - and the president and vice president are next.

This book ended the series for me.
Revisado: 08-04-17
What would have made Trap the Devil better?
If I had never purchased it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ben Coes again?
No, he has lost me as a reader/listener. I feel like I was ripped off.
Which character – as performed by Jay Snyder – was your favorite?
None, they all were lame. Jay is good, he just had nothing to work with.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Trap the Devil?
First off, if there is a group who wants you dead, you might think about eliminating their reason for wanting to kill you. If that reason is to keep a secret, then just tell everyone the secret. Plot foiled! Second he leaves/forgets his gun for the bad guys to find? If you don't know why that is wrong on so many levels, then please keep reading and forget I mentioned it. I could list the reasons why this is lazy plot advancement, but I am trying for no big spoilers. Third Dewey is barley in the first part of the book and when his is he comes across as whiney and obtuse. If I wanted to read/listen about someone like that, I wouldn't bother with fiction I get enough of it in reality.
Any additional comments?
I had to quit the book by chapter 30 due to gaping plot holes, lazy writing, and the destruction of a character I once loved. I tried, I really tried, but I just got to angry and pissed off to go on.

I regretted this purchase almost from the second I pressed play. Sound quality sucks and the story is childish. Save your credit and don't waste your time on this one.
