Historia
Eighteenth-century Scotsman James Fraser and his 20th-century time-travelling wife, Claire Randall, have emigrated to the beautiful countryside of the Royal Colony of North Carolina. The year is now 1771, and dissidents are stirring throughout the American colonies. Claire forewarns James of the impending war and the dangers it may bring to their clan. Will her knowledge of America’s tumultuous revolution be enough to guide them through a dangerously uncertain future?

Even Better the Second Time
Revisado: 03-13-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The Fiery Cross to be better than the print version?
I love being able to drive, do laundry, run errands, or whatever else I need to do while enjoying a good audio book at the same time. The other aspect that makes the audio version of any of the Outlander series novels so wonderful, is the sound of the various spoken languages, especially the Gaelic. I enjoy hearing what I would undoubtedly struggle through in print.
What other book might you compare The Fiery Cross to and why?
The Fiery Cross is another fine installment of the Outlander Series, by Diana Gabaldon. If you haven't read all 7 (number 8 is yet to come), what are you waiting for? I am not one to read a book a second time, but I am listening to this whole series again, because I enjoyed it so much the first time through. I do have a hard time remembering the order of the novels, so here it is for those of you who may be new to these books.
1. Outlander
2. Dragon Fly in Amber
3. Voyager
4. Drums of Autumn
5. Fiery Cross
6. A Breath of Snow and Ashes
7. An Echo in the Bone
8. The final novel is yet to be released.
What about Davina Porter???s performance did you like?
It amazes me how Davina Porter can create so many distinctly different sounding characters with her one voice. And they all seem to capture the very essence of that particular character.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
At 40 plus hours, it would be crazy to try and consume this entire book in one sitting. However, I would spend every waking hour listening if I could.

Historia
The year is 1771. Claire Randall is still an outlander, out of place and out of time. But now she is linked by love to her only anchor - Jamie Fraser. They have crossed oceans and centuries to build a life together in North Carolina. But tensions, both ancient and recent, threaten members of their clan. Knowing that his wife has the gift of prophecy, James must believe Claire, though he would prefer not to. Claire has shared a dreadful truth - there will, without a doubt, be a war.

The Story Is What Matters
Revisado: 02-29-12
If you could sum up The Scottish Prisoner in three words, what would they be?
I enjoyed this story as I have all of Diana Gabaldon's work.
What did you like best about this story?
This tale was woven in and around the Outlander series perfectly. The story stands alone but also fills in some of the time that Jamie Fraser spent as a paroled Scottish prisoner under the care of Lord John Grey.
Any additional comments?
While I enjoy the narration of the Outlander series as performed by Davina Porter, I was not put off in the least by the performances of Jeff Woodman or Rick Holmes. Don't let the rather harsh reviews from other readers scare you away from this book. After all, the story is what matters.

Historia
In this highly anticipated new novel, Diana Gabaldon brings back one of her most compelling characters: the unforgettable Lord John Grey - soldier, gentleman, and no mean hand with a blade. Set in the heart of the 18th century, Lord John's world is one of mystery and menace. Diana Gabaldon brilliantly weaves together the strands of Lord John's secret and public lives.

We've all heard the statistic: Fifty percent of marriages end in divorce. But what if it isn't true? What if, in fact, its not only possible but often easier than you think to save a seemingly troubled relationship? Those are the questions Tara Parker-Pope asked herself after her own divorce. An investigative journalist on the health and wellness beat, she turned to some of the top biologists, neuroscientists, psychologists, and other scientists for answers.

Good Food For Thought
Revisado: 08-27-10
The author covers an extremely complex subject and presents a great deal of scientific study, but this does not read like a text book. The narrator's voice is calm and soothing without being dull. The book contains a number of quizzes, which are read by the narrator who then interprets the results. I believe these would be more effective in printed form. This is merely a function of the audio format and not a criticism of the book itself. Overall, it was a very thought provoking read. I would recommend it for any married person or one who is contemplating marriage.
