The privileged voice! The main character without an ounce of dignity
Revisado: 04-25-25
The whole writing, a school superintendent recommended the book! Simply indigestible! Pretentious, arrogant, toxic male voice, hateful and dismissive of female characters! I couldn’t finish

It was on the Silk Roads that East and West first encountered each other through trade and conquest, leading to the spread of ideas, cultures, and religions. From the rise and fall of empires to the spread of Buddhism and the advent of Christianity and Islam, right up to the great wars of the 20th century - this book shows how the fate of the West has always been inextricably linked to the East.

Historia
Rising young comedian Moshe Kasher is lucky to be alive. He started using drugs when he was just 12. At that point, he had already been in psychoanlysis for 8 years. By the time he was 15, he had been in and out of several mental institutions, drifting from therapy to rehab to arrest to...you get the picture. But Kasher in the Rye is not an "eye opener" to the horrors of addiction. It's a hilarious memoir about the absurdity of it all.

I was looking forward to reading his story, working with students, raising children of trauma, I was hoping for insight. instead an inappropriate angry dribble. it might be better read without the authors voice? the graphics for cover is quite wonderful..... I kept hoping for an a wise and interesting voice. no such luck

Revisado: 05-28-23
I am fascinated with divergent thinkers, this book creates autism as victims! I listened to the whole thing, reminding myself I can better work with all kids. I came away with pathos.Perhaps some people like church ladies, i am reading “visual learners “and thoroughly enjoying the content, in fact, I ordered 25 copies for our school!

Historia
Five hundred years of colonization have taken an incalculable toll on the Indigenous peoples of the Americas: substance-use disorders and shockingly high rates of depression, diabetes, and other chronic health conditions brought on by genocide and colonial control. With passionate logic and chillingly clear prose, author and educator Suzanne Methot uses history, human development, and her own and others’ stories to trace the roots of Indigenous cultural dislocation and community breakdown in an original and provocative examination of the long-term effects of colonization.

worst performance ever
Revisado: 06-17-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I love the information, the Borgias are interesting history. The author knows his stuff. The narrator was and is horrid. I keep thinking he will take a break and listen to how he is speaking. Almost every sentence his voice goes up, incredibly irritating.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Non fiction
How could the performance have been better?
Edit after one chapter and then say, yikes, i need a coach. i need to edit. i need another job!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I love the information, the Borgias are interesting history. The author knows his stuff. The narrator was and is horrid. I keep thinking he will take a break and listen to how he is speaking. Almost every sentence his voice goes up, incredibly irritating.
Any additional comments?
the narrator either needs to get a new job or way more training.
