Spousal abuse, manipulative scenes of intimacy coming far too close to abuse. I almost never write reviews, and I love most books by this author and in this genre, but this one should come with a trigger warning. First time I’ve sincerely considered DNFing a book in a long time. I pushed through… but it was a slog.

Even more engaging and compelling a book than I could have possibly anticipated. Prince Harry has a gift for setting the scene, vivid details, and drawing you emotionally into the moments he describes in a poignant and powerful way. I could barely put it down.
The grief, the love, the honest humanity… it’s all shared here. Wow.

I was really enjoying the first 2/3rds of the book, then the end started getting REALLY heavy-handed with the God and Bible quotes & references.
When drama happens what do you do? pray, pray, pray. Oi! Wasn’t looking for a poorly constructed sermon. I wanted a period romance novel.

A worthwhile wandering...sometimes Jordan steals fairly blatently from Arthurian legend as well as many other sources of mythology. But, provided you can ignore/or enjoy that...the story keeps you interested. BTW: if you like this book you'll LOVE George R. R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice Series...it's even more engaging.
