Historia
Picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night takes reluctant witch Diana Bishop and vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont on a trip through time to Elizabethan London, where they are plunged into a world of spies, magic, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the School of Night. As the search for Ashmole 782—the lost and enchanted manuscript whose mystery first pulled Diana and Matthew into one another's orbit—deepens and Diana seeks out a witch to tutor her in magic, the net of Matthew's past tightens around them.

Don't Miss This One
Revisado: 09-27-12
What did you love best about Shadow of Night?
There is absolutely nothing not to love about this book. Harkness has, in my opinion, created in Matthew and Diana the only couple in modern popular fiction to rival Gabaldon's Jamie and Clare. This book has it all: Gothic, Historical Romance, Science Fiction, as well as heart warming and heart wrenching family stories. It's impossible to categorize. Ikeda handles the large cast of characters exceptionally well, giving them each a unique personality through the use of her voice. I finished the book this afternoon, and feel as though I've lost my most treasured friends.
What other book might you compare Shadow of Night to and why?
This book can't be compared to any other. It's uniqueness is part of the appeal.
Which scene was your favorite?
There is no one favorite, but I enjoyed the section of the book in which Matthew and Diana have travelled back in time to meet Matthew's "father" Phillipe. He became a favorite character.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I enjoyed savoring each part and letting it sink in before I listened to the next section or chapter.
Any additional comments?
This is a fabulous book, lush, well-researched, imaginative, touching. It will make you cry, root for the good guys, once you figure out who they are and whose side they're on, and make you want to dispatch the bad guys with your bare hands.

Byrne is a gifted storyteller.

If you could sum up Pictures in My Head in three words, what would they be?
Lyrical, beautiful, authentic
What was one of the most memorable moments of Pictures in My Head?
When poor little Gabriel has his first encounter with the nun at Catholic school. The way she treated him broke my heart.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book will make you laugh and cry. Byrne has a talent for observation, and he describes minute details that few people would pick up on, and they add great depth to his stories and descriptions. He's a gifted storyteller and wonderful writer. You don't need to know anything about him as an actor to enjoy this book. He reads the book himself, which is an added bonus. Without him narrating, it woudn't be nearly as entertaining. He's a treat for the ears, the mind, and the heart.

If you enjoyed the tv show, you'll enjoy this.
Revisado: 06-25-12
What did you love best about Christy?
Since I remember the tv show, I really enjoy the fact that Kelly Martin narrates. That's the reason I bought this one.The only negative about Martin's performance, and the reason I gave it three stars, is that she doesn't differentiate between characters well. There's little change in her voice at all. But overall, it's still a good performance, and I think you can tell Martin enjoyed what she was reading.
Any additional comments?
Christy would be a great addition to any teacher, education student, or professor's summer reading list. It will iinspire you.

Such a huge disappointment
Revisado: 05-04-12
What disappointed you about This Present Darkness?
When this title was mentioned at a seminar, I was excited to read it, however, it was a total disappointment. The narration is terrible, there is little differentiation between characters, and the sound quality is just as bad. It sounds like it comes from a tin can. Maybe it was all of the above that kept me from getting into the story, but I couldn't finish it. No matter how much detail Peretti provided, I couldn't seem to care about the characters. Overall, I did not like this production, and found it to be a waste of money.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jack Sondericker’s performances?
Absolutely not.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Wonderful, accurate performance of Stoker's novel
Revisado: 02-27-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Dracula to be better than the print version?
I love this edition for many reasons, but mainly because it is an accurate rendition of Stoker's novel. Every film version changes the story somewhat, and this edition does not. Readers get the treat of the accurate story along with great narration.
What did you like best about this story?
I love Tim Curry's voice, and think he does an excellent job.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Reading the book deprives you of the emotional range the human voice is capable of that add so much detail and color to the story.
