Historia
In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt watches uneasily as the world heads rapidly down a dangerous path. The Japanese have waged an aggressive campaign against China, and they now begin to expand their ambitions to other parts of Asia. As their expansion efforts grow bolder, their enemies know that Japan's ultimate goal is total conquest over the region, especially when the Japanese align themselves with Hitler's Germany and Mussolini's Italy, who wage their own war of conquest across Europe.

Not up to Jeff Schaara's usual quality
Revisado: 07-19-20
Since one of the main characters was an enlisted sailor. Jeff Schaara should have researched the Navy enlisted rank structure by purchasing a copy of the Bluejacket's Manual circa 1940.
He uses Navy rates and ratings incorrectly. There was no E-1 or E-2 rank in 1940. The E-1 to E-7 designated rank structure came into being in 1946. You graduated from Navy Boot Camp as a third class seaman or fireman and then were promoted to second class and finally first class seaman or fireman.
The hospital corpsman was known as a Pharmacists mate.
This seems trivial but puts the veracity of the book into question. I have only finished two chapters and don't know if I will continue...

Historia
The fighting that raged in the East during the First World War was every bit as fierce as that on the Western Front, but the titanic clashes between three towering empires - Russia, Austro-Hungary, and Germany - remains a comparatively unknown facet of the Great War. With the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the war in 2014, Collision of Empires is a timely expose of the bitter fighting on this forgotten front - a clash that would ultimately change the face of Europe forever.

Excellent Review of a Little Knows Theater of War
Revisado: 05-08-18
I am retired miltary after 32 years service and hold two bachelor's and one Master's Degree. I also am a student of military history but, actually knew very little about the day to day fighting on the Eastern Front of World War One. I learned a great deal from this book. There was so much information provided that I will need to listen to the book a second time (this time with an atlas open) in order to digest it all.
I had assumed that it was the conglomerate makeup of the Austro-Hungarian forces that caused their debacle. The "Collision of Empires" clarifies the many other reasons that the Austro-Hungarian Forces did so badly in WW-I...

Historia
Having investigated his share of gruesome murders, Philadelphia Homicide Sergeant Matt Payne is beginning to think nothing can shock him - until the case of a young socialite's death lands on his desk. The Camilla Rose Morgan he'd known as a teenager was beautiful and brilliant - how was it possible she'd jumped to her death from her own balcony? Her brother tells Payne she'd tragically been battling a lifetime of mental demons, and there is plenty of evidence of it, but still...something just doesn't sit right.

Historia
At the end of The Winter, King Arthur fought the battle that forces unity on the warring British kingdoms and now he sets out to face the real enemy - the English (it is one of the great ironies of the Arthur stories that he should have become an English hero when, if he existed at all, he was a great war-leader who opposed the invading Sais). First, though, Merlin leads a perilous expedition into the mysterious west to retrieve a cauldron, one of the treasures of Britain.
