Historia
After a tumultuous period in American politics, a new administration has just been sworn in, and to everyone’s surprise the president chooses a political enemy for the vital position of secretary of state. There is no love lost between the president of the United States and Ellen Adams, his new secretary of state. But it’s a canny move on the part of the president. With this appointment, he silences one of his harshest critics, since taking the job means Adams must step down as head of her multinational media conglomerate

A MUST Read!

A page turner that must be read. It’s impossible to not compare to recent times. A cautionary tale? I pray to God, it’s not.

Great education regarding Monopolies and their danger.
Revisado: 06-21-21
This was a solid read. If you are like me and thirsty to learn what government can do for us, you’ll learn a lot from this book. For me, it reads like an educational text, something required in AP high school or 101 college level. It's all about an education as far as what Amy Klobuchar has done in her Senate role, her presidential bid and her career sponsoring and co-sponsoring bills thus far. There is good info herein and shows her heart for us, the American people. I highly recommend this book. And kudos to Amy for only recording the first two chapters and ending; the MN accent is an acquired taste, for sure. 🙂

Wow!
Revisado: 12-03-20
I just binge-finished this book, unwilling to pause. President Obama wrote/read in the beginning that he hoped to relay a sense of what it was like to be the President of the United States; he did. He deftly allowed us to laugh, worry, feel his sense of the potential loss of his participation in his daughter’s lives because his service to our.country required his ability to “keep so many plates spinning on sticks high in the air”. This memoir enables an inside view of how many people with great and varied skill sets it takes to solve the huge problems solved in just his first Presidential term. The swell of pride and great hope in the future of our country is palpable in conclusion. I can’t wait for the next volume! Bravo, Sir. It was also so nice to hear your voice again.

Great story!
Revisado: 07-24-20
The only reason I took off a star for performance, was because we’re only given three things to rank; editing is not an option.
I lived roughly 20 years in the Portland area and each time Saskia mispronounced the “Willamette” (wil-LAM-it) as “Willamette” I found myself correcting her out loud. Too bad the author or editors didn’t catch that!

Historia
Fiver could sense danger. Something terrible was going to happen to the warren; he felt sure of it. They had to leave immediately. So begins a long and perilous journey of survival for a small band of rabbits. As the rabbits skirt danger at every turn, we become acquainted with the band, its humorous characters, and its compelling culture, complete with its own folk history and mythos. Fiver’s vision finally leads them to Watership Down, an upland meadow. But here they face their most difficult challenges of all.

Full of adventure, suspense that goes on for days, and if you have had personal experience with rabbits, you’ll know Richard Adams depicts them so perfectly. Peter Capaldi’s performance was stunningly, completely believable; he never let you question him.

Tender, today and fractured as we all are.
Revisado: 02-29-20
I loved this book. I don’t often binge listen, but I allowed this novel to envelop my last 2 days off in order to continue through completion.
Personally? No where near enough time between the book’s last word and the credits. There needs to be pause for absorption. Also, I’m not a fan of a female voice trying to take on male character’s voices. I’d much prefer a true reading of the book, as if it were us reading in our heads.
This story was delicious and the struggles all trusted, believable and pointent. I laughed and cried and felt every single point of view as if I was inside this velvet timeline, as if this was my life told out loud. Thank you. I’m a fan.

Historia
Prickly, wry, resistant to change yet ruthlessly honest and deeply empathetic, Olive Kitteridge is “a compelling life force” (San Francisco Chronicle). The New Yorker has said that Elizabeth Strout “animates the ordinary with an astonishing force”, and she has never done so more clearly than in this book, where the iconic Olive struggles to understand not only herself and her own life but the lives of those around her in the town of Crosby, Maine.

Oprah, you failed me on this one!
Revisado: 12-03-19
I listened to the entire book feeling sure it would turn into a treasured Oprah Pick that I always love. This one never met the mark, fell dreadfully flat actually. And the female voice when reading the men’s parts sounded positively creep to me.

Horrible lack of time and space at end of novel!
Revisado: 11-29-18
Horrible lack of space between a great novel and a great audible performance, and an unexpected interview of a Faulkner aficionado. Honestly? The interview kept me from steeping in the conclusion of the novel and ruined it for me.
