Historia
Doug Brock hasn't had it easy since his getting shot in the line of duty as a New Jersey state police officer. Between the amnesia and having to solve two murder cases, it hasn't been the most restful recovery. Now, the cold-case department is checking evidence from a murder case Doug was investigating before the accident, but the DNA points to a man Doug eliminated as a suspect...and he remembers none of it. Doug begins to reinvestigate what turns out to be a series of unsolved killings and must retrace his steps to discover why he would have let the suspect go free.

Police are real people
Revisado: 02-14-25
The book portrayed the police officers, as real people who have feelings, love, and even fear. While the book has a great story, it taught me to respect our police officers greater than ever before.

Such a Compassionate police officer
Revisado: 05-02-24
This was an enjoyable book. I was always in suspense, but felt the compassion of the police detective who was the main character of the book. My response was palpable.

Backed by Russian airpower, Syria has begun an operation to push Turkish troops out of Northern Syria. Despite US efforts not to get dragged into the conflict, the US 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines "Lava Dogs", find their hilltop combat outpost encircled and their Kurdish allies under siege. Further west, a Syrian armored advance across the border into Turkey pivots, threatening US troops at the Turkish and NATO airbase of Incirlik. But will Syria be satisfied with reclaiming its northern border region, or is the operation just the first move in a bolder plan to regain lost territories?

Difficult to Follow, Difficult to Listen
Revisado: 11-20-23
Listened on Audible.com. The reader's voice made for difficult listening; especially for 32 hours (trilogy). Rather than try to replicate a man's voice, I suggest having another reader (male) to read the male speaking parts. The same with the Southern accent. Given my Southern heritage, I readily identify when a non-Southerner seeks to speak as only a true Southern can. Willing suspense of disbelief is difficult when the story gets as far out as "Show and Tell." Engage your listener/reader a little earlier and add the details as you proceed. However, the central characters are really the animals, and for that, I commend the author, especially her insight into the animals' instincts and natural behaviors.

Hard to follow
Revisado: 10-20-23
Early in the book, there are so many Russian names, Iranian names, etc., that it is difficult to determine who is who. The reader’s accented voice sounds the same for each person. As the story progresses, it is much easier to follow.

Embrace the moment
Revisado: 10-07-23
Just as life is lived in moments, so this book was written with several pivotal moments. And the reader, who is excellent, knew how to embrace those moments. However, I did miss Devin O’Day. She is my favorite from her many years on the big 98.
