Historia
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

A Story of Love, Loss, Courage, and Fate
Revisado: 10-22-21
I’m still emotional after finishing this a few hours ago… WWII fiction is my absolute favorite… add in a fated love story and I crumble. I think I’ll have to get the physical copy of the book because I grew so attached to the characters and want to hold onto them forever.
My favorite quote from the book:
“I used to think that memories were less painful when you held them close.
Now I think pain loses its power when we share it.”

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Great Narration, Great Read!
Revisado: 07-07-21
I’ve found that audiobooks can easily be spoiled by poor narration, but this was so well done! Would highly recommend. I couldn’t stop listening. I have the hard copy, and had to read the last few chapters with my own eyes after hearing it. Brilliant.
