Historia
Twenty-five years after her passing, Audrey Hepburn remains the most beloved of all Hollywood stars, known as much for her role as UNICEF ambassador as for films like Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Several biographies have chronicled her stardom, but none has covered her intense experiences through five years of Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. According to her son, Luca Dotti, "The war made my mother who she was."

The best book I’ve ever read about WWII!!
Revisado: 05-10-21
This book was a real joy tp read! The events of the bridge to far are very clear in my mind as I have visited the area and the Narrator told jAudrey’s life in a city surrounded by German tanks and starvation in that long winter of 1944/1945. She has had a very difficult life with her Nazi sympathizer mother and not much contact with her father. She didn’t even speak the Dutch language when she was sent back to back to her mother in her little town near Arnhem and was ridiculed by her classmates In the end things turned out well for her. When she came to America she was a much sought after Actress and classical beauty. What a story !! Who would have known about her hiding in the basement and starving through that winter of starvation. She only weighed a hundred pounds an d was about 5feet 8 inches tall Beautifully written and Narrated!!

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Amazing well written book needed at this time!
Revisado: 09-23-20
This is a scholarly masterpiece written by a woman of great faith and character. Her narration makes it all the more beautiful. She is an amazing woman. Her rationale in making her case is well researched and her quotes of figures and people from the past serve the story well. My new hero!! Share this beauty with everyone you know!

On a freezing night in January 1941, a little Jewish girl is found on the steps of an apartment building in Bucharest. With Romania recently allied with the Nazis, the Jewish population is in grave danger, undergoing increasingly violent persecution. The girl is placed in an orphanage and eventually adopted by a wealthy, childless couple who name her Natalia. Loved this book!!
Revisado: 08-31-19
From the opening lines to the very end, this was an amazing and beautiful and sometimes tragic story. This will always be one of my all time favorites! It has so many twists and turns and sheds a vivid light on the terrible plight of people trapped behind the Iron Curtain. It was also another example of the horrible treatment of the Jews in yet another country (Romania) during those horrific years. As we have come to expect, Cassandra Campbell superbly narrated this book. I couldn’t put it down.

The occasion was a big birthday. And it inspired two close friends to get together in Dharamsala for a talk about something very important to them. The friends were His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The subject was joy. Both winners of the Nobel Prize, both great spiritual masters and moral leaders of our time, they are also known for being among the most infectiously happy people on the planet.

This is a beautifully written and perfectly narrated true story of one family's struggles to survive the Nazi invasion of Poland. Their family bond and Jewish traditions immediately grab the interest of the listener. The horrors of the Nazi hold on Europe are heart breaking. The story grips you from the start. You feel as if you are personally lnvolved. Fabulous book!

It is told from the Italian point of view. It melds the acts of the Italian Resistance, the die hard Italian Fascists, and the German Nazi invaders. It is a stor

A great eye opening book about the conflict in the Balkans.
Revisado: 06-18-17
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The Narrator did an excellent job with the accents. My knowledge of the conflict and geography of Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia is sketchy but this book held my interest and I definitely will read more about their Civil War of Ethnic Cleansing. I know the War Crimes Trial is being scheduled in The Hague soon and know the only Judge chosen from the US. I will be asking him lots of questions after reading this book.
