Historia
Bernard Cornwell, the New York Times best-selling "reigning king of historical fiction" (USA Today), tackles his most thrilling, rich, and enthralling subject yet - the heroic tale of Agincourt. The epic battle immortalized by William Shakespeare in his classic Henry V is the background for this breathtaking tale of heroism, love, devotion, and duty from the legendary author of the Richard Sharpe novels and the Saxon Tales.

You must love battle scenes and what’s up with the music???
Revisado: 05-28-19
I I love Bernard Cornwell books and this is no exception though, due to the subject of the book, it’s nearly entirely all battle scenes. Well done battle scenes.
What I really hope is that the appropriate people see this review and PLEASE reconsider adding music to audiobooks. This was loud. It was not at all necessary. It added NOTHING to the book. Worst of all, every time the music came up, I was shoved jarringly out of the head space I’d been in. So distracting!!!

Historia
Dan Delgado is a private investigator. When it comes to finding cheating spouses, corporate thieves, or runaway teenagers, he’s unenthusiastic, and unmatched. As a former San Francisco detective, he misses more meaningful work, but he hasn’t had the heart for it since his wife’s death five years prior. That is, until a phone call from a distraught mother, an illegal immigrant who can’t go to the police, puts him on the hunt for a missing little girl. By the time he reaches the mother’s small home, she’s missing, too. The circumstances are strange....

Have you ever watched Guy’s Grocery Games on The Food Network? Sometimes the contestants play a game where they spin an arrow on a few boards to select ingredients. One is a protein board. Perhaps another is fruits. Yet a third might be unusual ingredients. And the contestants must make the best dish they can out of, say, lamb with nopales and durian fruit.
I thought of this game repeatedly while listening to The Others with it’s unlikely combo of aliens, fundamentalist Mormons, and the ragtag band assisting the PI, including a sassy mother figure (my dream movie role) and a gun-toting Republican preacher.
I hesitated to use this reality TV game show analogy because it may make you think that the resulting story may stand as likely a chance of turning out well as a dish concocted from ingredients that seem to stand no chance of melding together well. At the risk of taking the metaphor completely too far, I think it’s all dependent on the chef or author. And in Jeremy Robinson’s hands, it’s WONDERFUL!
At turns hilarious and tragic and suspenseful, 👏🏽 I 👏🏽 could 👏🏽 not 👏🏽 recommend 👏🏽 this 👏🏽 book 👏🏽 more. I started it yesterday morning and plowed through it because I was so delighted with it, right up to the satisfying conclusion. And now I’m off to find my next read by this author!

Historia
The Indignities of Being a Woman candidly traces the history of womanhood and investigates how much things have really changed for womankind. By carefully x-raying areas such as body image, marriage, mental illness, fashion, and politics, this audiobook examines what it was like to be a woman in the past versus what it’s like now, when women are constantly told equality between the sexes exists but reality proves otherwise.

Probably a much better book than audiobook
Revisado: 03-22-19
Ohhh, this was depressing. Informative and interesting. Motivating and anger-inducing. And, oh so, depressing. I encourage anyone who lives as a woman to read this. Honestly, can there be a more clear indication that being transgender is a real thing? Because it can only be truly feeling the divine feminine inside you to push you to experience your true lives in the gender that has been treated like we have been for millennia. I did NOT like the narrators (also the authors). A case of not being as funny as they think they are.

Misgenred, IMO
Revisado: 03-22-19
Classified as a thriller/suspense. Though there is a mystery involved and although I did not guess correctly whodunit, overall it read much more like a family drama. And if I’d wanted a book with quarrelsome family members, illnesses and tragedies, I would have selected a different book altogether. It was very well written family drama, but it was family drama.

You still here?
Revisado: 03-22-19
Any one of the books in this trilogy is two or three times the length of a regular book. I’m not sure if I’d recommend to others. They are a VERY SPECIFIC take inside the post-apocalypse genre. Part “Dracula” and part modern scientific experiment gone massively wrong. If that sounds like your thing and you have the time to give to read these, then yes, read on. (I understand a TV series is out there based on the first book but couldn’t say how they compare.)

“It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born". An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy - abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued, and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape - but he can’t stop society’s collapse.

Fans fell in love with Eliza Hamilton - Alexander Hamilton’s devoted wife - in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s phenomenal musical Hamilton. But they don’t know her full story. A strong pioneer woman, a loving sister, a caring mother, and, in her later years, a generous philanthropist, Eliza had many sides - and this fascinating biography brings her multifaceted personality to vivid life.

Well...now I’m scared.
Revisado: 03-22-19
“The Art of the Steal” is a near terrifying insight into how to recognize and avoid cons and scams. Or, as even the author says, pull them off. He knows some people will use this book as a DIY con game manual. It’s that good. I’m now debating listening to his third book “Stealing Your Life,” as I’m sure it’s bound to frighten me more. But also educate me. I now know there are certain steps I need to take on behalf of my mom and I for protection because this kind of crime is rampant and only growing.
