Historia
Lizzy Moon never wanted Moon Girl Farm. Eight years ago, she left the land that nine generations of gifted healers had tended, determined to distance herself from the whispers about her family’s strange legacy. But when her beloved grandmother Althea dies, Lizzy must return and face the tragedy still hanging over the farm’s withered lavender fields: the unsolved murders of two young girls, and the cruel accusations that followed Althea to her grave.

Interesting Family
Revisado: 04-30-24
I enjoyed this book quite a bit - great characters and storyline. I thought some parts were predictable, but still wanted to see if it was going the way I expected. I loved the little kindnesses that seemed unexpected to the protagonist, Lizzy. it was a very enjoyable listen that I would highly recommend.

Family Bonds
Revisado: 01-18-24
I loved the characters and the story line. The character of Gervais was very quirky and seemed shifty. The issues that arose with the brothers personally and as a group were very realistic. I have four siblings and there are often things that are unresolved and will rise up occasionally.
I love the straightforward style of Lisa Jewell and enjoy her books. I highly recommend this book.

Tom Hazard has a dangerous secret. He may look like an ordinary 41-year-old, but owing to a rare condition, he's been alive for centuries. Tom has lived history - performing with Shakespeare, exploring the high seas with Captain Cook, and sharing cocktails with Fitzgerald. Now, he just wants an ordinary life. So Tom moves back his to London, his old home, to become a high school history teacher - the perfect job for someone who has witnessed the city's history first hand. Better yet, a captivating French teacher at his school seems fascinated by him.

Unending Life
Revisado: 12-22-23
This was a very enjoyable book, I was sad it ended so quickly. The story line was engaging and interesting. I loved the character of Tom or Etienne. His humanity rules his beliefs and actions which limits his ability to really live a full life. He is consumed by his past which impacts his present life. He had experienced the worst of many people and yet wanted desperately to believe in kindness and truth. The character you love to hate is Hendrick. The antagonist is very well written and hearing the story really brings him to life. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book and narration. I was a bit surprised by the lack of suspense that Jewel normally displays in her books but I enjoyed the story line. This book focused on the Bird family over several decades, through ups and downs, marriages, divorces and deaths. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
After her mother’s passing, Aldona finds a tin filled with old letters from a prisoner at Ravensbrück, a women’s concentration camp in northern Germany. Amid the descriptions of daily deprivations and humiliations at the camp, she uncovers the heart-wrenching story of a small circle of women who risked their lives to hide a baby girl from the guards. Aldona is rocked to the core by this record of courage and sisterhood during one of the grimmest chapters of human history.

Birth at Concentration Camp
Revisado: 01-23-23
I really enjoyed the narration of this story. Having a person with a German or Eastern European accent gave the story a much more authentic feel to it. It is always a good reminder to see the goodness that can occur during dark times. WWII had so much death and hatred, but love and friendship also blossomed. It was sad that the protagonist didn't learn her true story until later in life. There is hope she may find more family upon going to Romania.
I would recommend this short story.

sibling connections
Revisado: 01-18-23
I really enjoyed this audible about the Skinner family. The four children have an extremely tight bond as they need to count on each other for everything - love, food, security - while their mother is unable to participate in their lives. They work hard toward following their passion. it's interesting how the siblings and their relationships evolve over the adult lives. I would highly recommend this book.

creating a new life
Revisado: 11-16-22
I listened to this audiobook while driving for 12 hours. I enjoyed the different narratives but felt a lot of the storyline was very predictable. Although I didn't have all of the details figured out I would have enjoyed the book more if it had some surprises. It did keep me entertained and awake so I would recommend it.

I thought this was a fun little story that questions how well people really know each other. How we sometimes surprise our selves and others. Short story that packed a lot of drama and characters into it. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

Historia
Early one morning on the shore of the Thames, DCI Samuel Owusu is called to the scene of a gruesome discovery. When Owusu sends the evidence for examination, he learns the bones are connected to a cold case that left three people dead on the kitchen floor in a Chelsea mansion thirty years ago. Rachel Rimmer has also received a shock—her husband, Michael, has been found dead in the cellar of his house in France. All signs point to an intruder, and the French police need her to come urgently to answer questions about Michael and his past that she very much doesn’t want to answer.
