The narrators were great!
Revisado: 02-02-25
I loved the narrators and enjoyed that each character was voiced by a different person. I did mostly enjoy the book and the heist aspect of it. There were a lot of aspects of the setting that I would have loved more information on, like the fact that I wasn’t quite sure what time period the fantasy world was set in. I would have enjoyed more world building. At times the pacing seemed a bit off as well. Over all though it was a fun listen. I’ll read the second one to see what happens next.

Such a great story!
Revisado: 10-09-24
Razia was such an amazing and strong character. Loved the dragons and that the book was part heist, part adventure and full of romance. I haven’t read any books in this type of setting, so I really enjoyed that and loved the fantasy aspect. I also loved Razia’s sisters and would love to know more about them as well.

Historia
Not bothering to look at me, the man raised his hand up and flipped me off. Your loss. I thought as I watched his hand come back down to rest on the bar. Changing my grip on the handle of the knife and exposing the blade, I brought it down on his fingers, lopping off three of them just above the middle joint. The man yelled out furiously and gripped his, newly shortened, fingers in his other hand as he whipped himself around to face me again.

Loved it!
Revisado: 08-25-24
I am absolutely obsessed with vampires, so believe me when I say that this book does not disappoint. It’s also my second time reading (or in this case listening to) a book by Patricia Carrigan and at this point she’s firmly on my list of favorites.
Savannah Thomas did an amazing job on the narration. She absolutely brings Ruby to life and is really incredible at the male voices as well. That Irish accent was🔥Plus she also sounds great at 1.7x speed—since I know a lot of people like listening a bit faster.
Ruby is gorgeous, smart and an absolute badass. She’s definitely born to be a vampire and takes to it effortlessly—despite her turning being a mistake.
Of course there are plenty of other sęxy vampires, including Ruby’s handsome but dangerous employer and his swoon worthy Irish bodyguard.
It’s an incredibly entertaining story filled with betrayal, secrets, violence, and dark mafia vibes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the ending couldn’t have been more satisfying.
Thank you for the audible code Patricia!

An Amazing Story
Revisado: 06-13-24
“Sometimes we do what we hate to do what is right.”
I LOVED this book. The writing is fantastic, the characters are nuanced and well rounded and the lore and world building is incredibly unique and interesting. I was absolutely blown away by the story.
This is fantasy with elemental magic, a deranged king, and secret battles waged for the right to take over a kingdom. It has political intrigue, portals to other worlds and parasitic ‘demons’ who vie for control of their hosts body.
I won’t say too much about the characters or plot because I feel like it would be easy to give away spoilers, but I also feel like I would be remiss if I didn’t say that Saran, the FMC is absolutely amazing. She’s everything I think of when I imagine a strong, powerful, well written woman. I enjoyed her softer moments and she definitely had them, but I absolutely loved the way she embodied female resilience and rage. She’s an incredible character.
I don’t generally like comparing books to other media, but this book reminds me of both Dragon Age and Stargate and that is probably one of the highest compliments I can give it.
I listened to this book on audible and the narrators all did a wonderful job as well. Thanks to them I know how to pronounce everything correctly.
I would also like to thank Kaytalin Platt for sharing a code from audible so I could listen to this book.

I love everything this author writes. Loved the neurodivergent main character and I loved that we got to see the start of Vale and Lilith’s love story. I only wish I had read it before the other book they appear in.
