Historia
Susie Chan is an icon of endurance running. Since taking up running at the age of 35, she has completed the legendary Marathon des Sables more times than any other British woman, set the 12-hour treadmill World Record and was one of the first women to finish all the World Marathon Majors. Susie’s story is an inspirational fight against the odds. From leaving a dysfunctional marriage, managing as a single mum and tackling cancer treatment, Susie has had her fair share of adversity. Throughout it all, running has kept her going.

Even if you never run more than a 10k (like me), Susie’s book makes you want to push yourself just a little harder. Highly recommend.

A life well lived
Revisado: 12-05-23
Every 10 or so books that I listen to hit me in a way that stays with me for a very long time. This is definitely one of them. I’m one of those people in the book that likely chose my career based on Star Trek. And over the years, what you learn with so many years of experience is clearly laid out in Shatner’s excellent book. Highly recommend.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 10-12-19
Every 10th or so Audible book, I absolutely hate when it ends. This was one of them. As a big football fan (Patriots alas) and a father of a Penn State grad when Urschel was there, I totally understood his love for football and for Happy Valley.
With an engineering background and current data analytics focus, I loved the math so much that I pulled out some of my old favorite books to review.
I usually prefer the author to read but Jones did an awesome job as well. Totally recommend. We are!

Historia
What would it have been like to be an eyewitness to the Big Bang? In 2014, astronomers wielding BICEP2, the most powerful cosmology telescope ever made, revealed that they'd glimpsed the spark that ignited the Big Bang. Millions around the world tuned in to the announcement broadcast live from Harvard University, immediately igniting rumors of an imminent Nobel Prize. But had these cosmologists truly read the cosmic prologue or, swept up in Nobel dreams, had they been deceived by a galactic mirage?

Overall worth reading
Revisado: 09-27-19
This was a somewhat frustrating audio book. The performance was excellent. There was a gap in chapter one that threw me off for a bit and was reported to Audible as well as mentioned in other reviews.
Even though the author sort of apologized for the somewhat whiny tone of a Nobel ‘loser’ and the book did bounce around too much, it was a fascinating study of science and the politics of science. I learned something new and that makes it worth reading to me.
So even though it sort of bothered me occasionally, I highly recommend listening to it or reading it.

Historia
Leonardo da Vinci created the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and engineering. With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry.

Amazing book, Molina is outstanding!
Revisado: 08-25-18
I’ve always enjoyed Isaacson’s books and Alfred Molina’s narration was pretty much the best I’ve heard in an audio book. For someone not super up to speed on art in general and da Vinci in particular, the book is eye opening. When writing about Steve Jobs, you have live interviews and thousands of hours of audio and video. For someone like Leonardo da Vinci, so much is based on interpretation and Isaacson does a wonderful job. Having the PDF to refer to was so valuable as well. I feel like I retained more than I would have by listening first on a walk and then follow up when I got home. What a fantastic experience!
