Historia
Sometimes you slip through the cracks: unforeseen circumstances like an abrupt illness, the death of a loved one, a breakup, or a job loss can derail a life. These periods of dislocation can be lonely and unexpected. For May, her husband fell ill, her son stopped attending school, and her own medical issues led her to leave a demanding job. Wintering explores how she not only endured this painful time, but embraced the singular opportunities it offered. Ultimately Wintering invites us to change how we relate to our own fallow times.

I’ve had this book in my library but the audible was wonderful. I love Katherine May and the narrator was just perfect. This is a book I will cozy up with every Fall/Winter.

Had food with this one. Great ending.
Revisado: 12-01-24
I really do like this whole monster hunter series. Not the deepest dive into emotions and guile. It’s straightforward very cool stories about creatures and destroying man I can’t get enough of this stuff. I love listening to this while I work. Great descriptions, great characters, I hope this series goes on for a very, very, very long time. Thanks so much for this.

Matt Haig never disappoints
Revisado: 10-01-24
I went into this book only on the notion that it was written by Matt Haig and once again I am not disappointed. I am hesitant to reveal too much but it’s about loss, regret and feeling like you’re out of time, with nothing left to give. Not a spoiler-you’re not. I did cry a bit at the end. Thank you to the amazing narrators. Now I must go research Ibiza

Historia
Riverside Close is a picture-perfect community. The six exclusive and attractive houses are tucked far away from the noise and grime of city life, allowing the residents to enjoy beautiful gardens, pleasant birdsong, and tranquility from behind the security of a locked gate. It is the perfect idyll, until the Kentworthy family arrives, with their four giant, gas-guzzling cars, gaggle of shrieking children, and plans for a garish swimming pool in the backyard. Obvious outsiders, the Kentworthys do not belong in Riverside Close, and quickly offend every last one of the neighbors.

Suspense and a thriller
Revisado: 03-15-24
Wow this book! Set in the mid 1950s. Loretta is a 27 year old wife ( I hate the term housewife but it seems to be coined in the 50s) she is married to Pete, a professor at a religious college, she had two kids. After a brief illness she is plagued by visions. What happens next is a roller coaster of events. I found myself thinking of my grandmother and the rights a woman didn’t have in the 1950s. A woman in this time couldn’t open a bank account or cash a check without a male relative to vouch for her. I loved this book and the strength of Loretta was palpable. 5 Stars

Historia
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.
